PRAYER FOR EASTER
Risen Lord, thank you for your gift
of a new day,
of a new life,
of a new forever.
You give hope to us, and You give meaning to us.
We know that nothing can stop us from loving You,
Whatever happens to us, we know you are with us
And You will give us Your gift
Of a new day,
Of a new life, of a new forever.
Thank you for Easter
Amen
APRIL 2011
VIRTUE OF LOVE
Dear God,
You have done such a marvelous job of creating us and the world around us.
You have placed this creation, including all the people we meet, in our care.
We come to you now asking for the grace and strength to love.
We want to love like Jesus loved – without holding back; without wondering what’s
in it
For me; so that everyone around us will know what your love looks like.
May we find the courage to forget ourselves on purpose for the good of your people.
We ask this in name of Jesus, our brother, who lived to show us your way.
Amen
A Loving Person…

school/bus stop
when approached by a stranger, walk or run to a
place of safety such as home or back to school

up with ideas of what you would do if for some
reason, you are afraid on the way to and from
school/the bus stop

guard
look both ways before crossing the street
do not cross between parked cars
STUDENT MONITORS
Thanks are extended once again to our School Council
for providing pancakes for the entire St. David of Wales’
students and staff. The pancakes were delicious and
enjoyed by everyone!
CONTINUOUS LATES
We continue to be concerned with the number of
students who are arriving at school late. School starts
at 8:45 a.m. Students should be in their lines at that
time. If they enter through the front doors, they are
considered late and must go to the office for a late slip.
We want to ensure a safe arrival of all students.
IMPORTANT SAFETY TIPS
Parents and guardians are encouraged to regularly
review the following important safety tips with your
child(ren):
the importance of not talking to strangers, go
directly home from school/the bus stop or
directly to the babysitter’s after school
If you would be able to work during the day between
11:45 a.m. & 12:45 p.m. helping to supervise students
during the lunch break please come to the office and talk
to Mrs. Gillis. This is a paid position!
ARTISTS IN THE SCHOOL
On Friday, March 25, our school had the great pleasure
of having Cawthra Park Dance Company entertain us.
This was a very high energy and spectacular experience.
They made dancing look easy.
Thank you to the School Council for funding this
wonderful Art of Dance.
IMMUNIZATION
PUBLIC HEALTH
MESSAGE
FROM
PEEL
Peel Public Health started reviewing immunization
records of all students at our school in March, 2011.
Peel Public Health must have proof that your child has
been fully vaccinated (immunized) according to the
Ontario immunization schedule. During the record
review, you will receive a letter from Peel Public Health
if your child’s record is incomplete. It will tell you what
vaccinations your child needs to meet the requirements
for Ontario.
Immunization records are considered incomplete if:
• Peel Public Health has not received your child’s
vaccination record or
• Your child’s record does not show that he/she has had
all the required doses of vaccine (e.g. infant and booster
doses) or
•You do not have a valid exemption from immunization
for your child
If you receive a letter, please be sure your child has
received the required vaccination(s), then give the
date(s) to Peel Public Health immediately to update your
child’s record.
For more information please call Peel Public Health at
(905) 799-7700 or visit www.immunizepeel.ca.
Translation services are available.
PHONE CALLS DURING SCHOOL TIME
The office often gets requests from students to make
phone calls home to ask parents to bring forgotten items
such as running shoes, agendas or textbooks/homework.
We are reinforcing with students that it is their
responsibility to bring all necessary items to school and
to arrange in advance their out of school activities.
Students will not be given permission to use the phone to
make such calls.

Face book 101
By CHRIS VOLLUM
TOOLS TO INCREASE YOUR PRIVACY & SECURITY
As of January 2011, Facebook 101 has been presented to more than 140,000 students I n22
school boards and independent schools throughout Ontario. Chirs Vollum is armed with a deep
and extensive understanding of every work and interpretation of Facebook’s privacy policies,
settings and sub-settings. He established “Facebook 101’ with the sole purpose of educating
parents, teachers, administrators and students on how to effectively apply their Facebook profile
settings to minimize privacy breaches and proactively defend against cyber-bullying. His
hands-on, user-friendly workshop has been described as a “must see” event that explores the
nuts and bolts of how to maximize Facebook’s settings with an emphasis on safety, security and
privacy. Please join the St. Joseph Community for this worthwhile experience.
