Installing a Lens
Follow the instructions below to replace the Cisco PVC2300 or WVC2300 camera
lens with any C- or CS-mount lens.
STEP 1 Unscrew the current lens on your Cisco PVC2300 or WVC2300 IP camera.
STEP 2 Ensure that the new lens is clean because any dirt may degrade the quality of
video images. Save the lens opening dust cap and replace the dust cap if you
remove the lens.

2
STEP 3 Screw the new lens onto the opening of the camera. The camera accepts both C-
and CS-mount lenses.
•
If you are using a CS-mount lens, screw the lens into the lens opening.
•
If you are using the C-mount lens then you need to use the C-mount 5 mm
lens adapter ring. The adapter ring is included with the camera.
•
If you are using a DC auto iris lens, connect its cable to the DC auto iris lens
connector on the IP camera. The illustrations below show the location of the
connector on the IP camera.
STEP 4 If you have a manual iris lens, adjust the iris according to the prevailing light
conditions.
STEP 5 Adjust the focus of your lens. Turn the lens slowly either clockwise or
counterclockwise until the desired image appears. Do not turn the lens too far in
either direction.

Installing the PVC2300/WVC2300 Cameras in a VC 020
Enclosure
Follow the instructions below to install a Cisco PVC2300 or WVC2300 camera into
a Cisco VC 020 enclosure. Please note that the Cisco WVC2300 camera must be
wired to be used in the enclosure. Wireless mode is not supported.
Before You Begin
If you plan to install this camera into a tropical, coastal, saltwater, or corrosive
industrial water/moist environment, seal each stainless steel screw and fitting with
a silicon grease compound. This compound prevents corrosion and extends the
life span of the camera and the housing.

Preparing the Brackets
This procedure describes how to connect the mounting bracket and the enclosure
bracket.
STEP 1 Using the L-type hex wrench, adjust the ball joint in the enclosure bracket to set
the approximate direction the enclosure.
STEP 2 Place the wall mount bracket and the enclosure bracket together.
STEP 3 Screw the brackets together using the provided stainless steel screw and L-type
hex wrench.
Connecting the Cables
Before completing this procedure, you must cut the camera’s Ethernet cable and
the power cord as it will be necessary to feed them through the mounting
brackets and the cable conduits found on the bottom of the enclosure.
WARNING Equipment connected to outdoor cameras must be permanently grounded in
accordance with national and local codes. Statement 374
WARNING Hazardous voltages may be present in the outdoor camera cables under fault
conditions. Disconnect all cables from the outdoor cameras before servicing this
equipment. Statement 376
WARNING Do not use this product near water; for example, near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen
sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement, or near a swimming pool. Statement 1035
WARNING Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically
designed for wet locations. Statement 1036

WARNING Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has
been disconnected at the network interface. Statement 1037
WARNING Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical storm.
There may be a remote risk of electric shock from lightning. Statement 1038
STEP 1 Feed the cut Ethernet cable and power cord through the brackets.
STEP 2 Feed the Ethernet cable and power cord through the conduits found on the bottom
of the enclosure. The power cord goes through the conduit closest to the power
supply wiring.
WARNING When stranded wiring is required, use approved wiring terminations, such as
closed-loop or spade-type with upturned lugs. These terminations should be the
appropriate size for the wires and should clamp both the insulation and conductor.
Statement 1002
WARNING Use copper conductors only. Statement 1025

STEP 5 Connect the power cord to the terminal block assembly. You can make these
connections in one of two ways: color matching the wires, or using a multimeter to
measure resistance from the power cord and the terminal block assembly.
WARNING This equipment has been designed for connection to TN and IT power systems.
Statement 1007
WARNING This equipment must be grounded. Never defeat the ground conductor or operate
the equipment in the absence of a suitably installed ground conductor. Contact the
appropriate electrical inspection authority or an electrician if you are uncertain that
suitable grounding is available. Statement 1024
WARNING When installing or replacing the unit, the ground connection must always be made
first and disconnected last. Statement 1046
WARNING Use copper conductors only. Statement 1025
WARNING The ground connection from the power cable MUST connect to the chassis first.
The power cord ground wire must connect to the chassis ground terminal first. A
closed loop connector must be attached to the ground and then attached to the
screw and lock washer at the protective earth ground (PE).

•
To color match the wires It is highly recommended that the installer
references an IEC standard wiring diagram, such as those found at
http://www.allaboutcircuits.com.
•
If you are using a multimeter, and you have a properly labeled power cord,
you can use the multimeter to register the resistance from the prongs. The
following is an illustration of a labeled European AC power cord plug head,
showing Live, Earth, Neutral.
•
If you are using a multimeter, the matched wire and plug will show
resistance; mismatched will read OL (overload). By testing, the labeled plug
pin on the cross-section indicates the exact wire, which you can then
directly match on the enclosure power block assembly. The following is an
illustration of a multimeter measuring the polarity of the wires.

!
CAUTION Repeated installations can make the cover difficult to attach to the enclosure.
However, do not add lubrication to the groove in the enclosure. Adding lubrication
could cause the seal to fail. Lubrication may allow water to enter the enclosure and
harm the camera, or the cover to loosen over time and fall.
STEP 7 Attach the enclosure to the appropriate bracket. The various brackets are shown
in the illustration.
STEP 8 Secure the enclosure to the selected bracket using the supplied L-type hex
wrench.

Securing the Power Adaptor
A basic installation may leave the external power adaptor exposed to the
elements. It is recommended that you use either an extension cord so the power
adaptor can be placed indoors, or an electrical junction box.
DC Extension Cord
The specification of the extension cord, if needed, are as follows:
•
Custom length, 2-core copper conductor, type SPT-1 (UL/CSA style), 18
AWG, texture ≥ 2 x 0.824 mm², withstand 105° C, and 300V
Electrical Junction Box
The suggested requirements of the electrical junction box, if needed, are as
follows:
•
Protection level IP66 or above; inner size at least W151 mm x L118 mm x H38
mm; material should be aluminium alloy
NOTE Plastic pipe or conduit should be used to waterproof and protect the cables and
cords.
