Annual Security Officer Training
The Department of Public Safety is conducting its annual Security Officer training. Security
Officers come gather in several sessions for training in various areas such as Information
Technology (Share Point, ARMS, VPR), handcuffing procedures, OC Recertification,
Scenarios, Motivational/Teamwork training (taught by the UH Wellness Center), CPR/AED,
and a review of the newly implemented policies and procedures. Many of our Security
Officers don’t get a chance to meet and discussion concerns with their fellow Security
Officers except for at this annual event.
The Security Services Lieutenant, Dina Gonzales, expressed that “continuous training of the
Security Officers is not necessary an expectation from the community, but we want to exceed
the community’s expectations by conducting this training”. Many of the Security Officers
are getting a chance to learn new skills and brush up on their current skills.
