It is extremely important that our records be current and up-to-date. In the event of an emergency, we must be able to contact you immediately. Please ensure the school has updated information with regards to emergency contacts and phone numbers. We would like to thank those who have been using the Corpus Christi “Kiss and Ride Program.” However, in order for it to run smoothly and safely both before and after school for all our students, everyone needs to follow the same procedure: 1. 2. When dropping off students at the school please drive into the driveway of the school. In order to ensure the safety of your children, please do not let your child out of the car until you have come to a complete stop. Students should be let out in the Kiss “N” Ride Lane not the Bus Lane. Never drive or park in the Bus Lane at the front of the school. This is strictly reserved for busses all day. Never leave your car unattended in the Kiss “N” Ride Lane or any other lane. It is against the law and you may be ticketed by traffic police. If you need to walk your child to school or you need to stop at the office, please park in the parking lot. DO NOT PARK in the Kiss “N” Ride Lane. We appreciate your co-operation in following these procedures. We are currently asking the school community to assist us with the Kiss “N” Ride Program. If there are any parents/guardians who would be interested in volunteering with the Kiss “N” Ride Program please contact Mrs. Rossi our School Volunteer Co-ordinator. Textbooks School textbooks are school property and are loaned to the students annually. The expectation is that textbooks will be returned at the end of the school year. Students are responsible for the textbooks and will be asked to pay if these books go missing or have been vandalized. Track and Field The Track and Field season is well underway. Teachers have been busy preparing Junior and Intermediate students for the Family Meet on June 17th and ultimately the Board Meet on June 20th. Best of luck to our students. Safety Awareness-Protecting the Skin Over exposure to the sun can cause skin damage. We remind students regularly to take precautions to protect their skin during recess times. The following are some suggestions to help protect skin: Wear protective clothing to cover the skin Wear a hat to protect both the eyes and the skin When possible, stay out of direct sunlight Know your skin type, for example fair skinned people are more sensitive to the ultraviolet radiation Wear sunblock; the higher the protections factor number, the greater the protection. Parents are encouraged to reinforce these strategies with their children. School Dress Code Reminders The warm weather has finally arrived, making some classrooms somewhat warm and bringing about casual dress. With this in mind, we will be discussing with students, what is generally considered to be suitable clothing for school. Clothing should be comfortable, tasteful and appropriate for a Catholic school environment. Please refer to the Dress Code Section of Student’s Agenda. Shorts are permitted, as long as they are neither too tight or too short. Tank tops, tube tops, halter-tops, muscle shirts or anything that exposes midriffs are not suitable for any student from Kindergarten to Grade 8 at school. Slogans on T-shirts will be carefully monitored. The intent of our school dress code policy is to continue to provide modest, yet comfortable work atmosphere for our students during the school day. We look forward to your continued support as concerned parents. Lost and Found The “Lost and Found Boxes”, located in the school are a good place to start looking for missing items. Periodically, we remind students to check the box for any items they may have lost. Please remind your child(ren) to check the Lost and Found Boxes if anything is lost. Safe Play in the School Yard We continue to remind our students regularly that they are to choose activities that do not involve “rough play” or “body contact” of any sort. We are finding that most of our students are becoming more clear on the meaning of NO “body contact” and we would ask that you also encourage the rule at home in an effort to support our school rules and maintain consistency and safety for all students. We applaud our students for improving their behaviours on the playground, and we encourage them to continue to work together as a caring, catholic community. Toonie Tuesday and Fabulous Fridays Once again our school will be having Toonie Tuesdays and Fabulous Fridays. All items being sold will be sold at $1 each. It’s called Toonie Tuesdays because generally speaking some students will purchase a Cookie from Terracotta Cookies and Milk or juice for a total of $2. All funds raised will go towards supporting school activities and events. FAITH AND PARISH CORNER The Sacraments SK Graduation Our SK Graduation is planned for Monday, June 23rd, 2014.
