Updates
The following updates were made:

Adjusted input gain for handset. (SIP and SPCP)
•
Added support for viewing a videocamera from the phone. (SIP and SPCP)
Supported videocamera models are the Cisco PVC 2300 and the Cisco
WVC 2300. Camera firmware version 1.1.1.4 and higher is required; consult
the release notes for the camera. Videocameras are configured in the Web
Administration Interface in the User tab.

Added support for macro expansion in Cisco XML requests. (SIP and SPCP)
You can now use macro variables in XML URLs. The following macro
variables are supported:

User ID—UID1, UID2, UID3, UID4, UID5

Display name—DISPLAYNAME1, DISPLAYNAME2, DISPLAYNAME3,
DISPLAYNAME4, DISPLAYNAME5

Known Issues
CSCte03185—No audio sent or received when using MP3 as a ringtone in the
directory.
Issue: If you create a contact in the Personal Address Book and assign it a ringtone
created from an MP3 file, when calls are made to the Cisco SPA 525G phone from
that contact, no audio ringtone is heard.
Workaround: Do not assign a ringtone created from an MP3 file to the contact. If
the contact has an MP3-created ringtone, temporarily change it to one of the
Classic or Simple ringtones.
CSCtd69146—Videocamera viewing window exits and terminates call.
Issue: If using the videocamera monitoring feature on the camera, sometimes the
videocamera viewing window exits and existing calls are dropped after 15 to 30
minutes.
Workaround: None.

Bug Toolkit, you’ll need a Cisco.com user ID and password.

STEP 1
To access the Bug Toolkit, go to http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/
action.do?hdnAction=searchBugs.
STEP 2
Log on with your Cisco.com user ID and password.
STEP 3
To look for information about a specific problem, enter the bug ID number in the
“Search for bug ID” field, then click Go. To get a list of problems for a specific
product, select the product category and product from the drop-down list and
click Search.

Installation Notes
To install firmware for the Cisco IP Phone SPA 525G, follow these instructions.
SIP Version
STEP 1
Download the firmware from Cisco.com. Go to:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps10499/index.html
STEP 2
Click the Download Software link.
STEP 3
Choose the correct software version. Download the zip file and unzip the .bin file
to your PC.
STEP 4
Obtain the IP address of your phone:
a. On your phone, press the Setup button and select Status.
b. Scroll to Network Status and press Select. Note the IP address.
STEP 5
On your PC, open Internet Explorer.
STEP 6
Enter the phone’s IP address in the browser’s toolbar.
STEP 7
Choose the Firmware Upgrade tab.
STEP 8
Click Firmware Upgrade Window.
STEP 9
Browse to select the firmware file from your PC. Click Submit. The firmware is
installed and your phone reboots.
SPCP Version
Firmware updates are done from the Cisco Unified Communications 500 Series.
