There are in-course experiences and assessments in all courses required for other certifications that address standards, however, some of the formal data collection that is done for the school principal program has not been developed and utilized in the other certification areas. The process of developing and using this new approach to formal data collection for the existing principal program has helped the department to identify issues that need to be fixed as part of the redesign process. Upon completing the new state requirements to redesign the principal preparation program, the department will then redesign all other certification programs building on the new principal program to have the same common core of experiences, assessments, and data collection points for all students. In addition, appropriate formal experiences and assessments will also be developed for the certification-specific courses in other certifications.
