Obtaining the New and Enhanced Device Drivers
New and enhanced VNE support for multiple device families is be provided through Prime Network Device Packages
(DPs), Service Patches, and Point Patches, as they become available. To obtain this additional support, do the
following:
• For Device Packages (DPs), log into Cisco.com and go to the Cisco Prime Network Software Download
site.
• For Service Patches, log into Cisco.com and go to the Cisco Prime Network Software Download site.
• For Point Patches, contact your Cisco representative.
Once you download the new support, it can be installed on Cisco Prime Network 4.1. DP contents are described in this
document (and in the Readme that accompanies the download). Service and Point Patch contents are described in the
Release Note or Readme that are provided on the download site.
Note: A mapping of IOS-XE software to their IOS software equivalents is provided Appendix A.
Prime Network Support for Third-Party Devices
Prime Network supports third-party devices through Cisco Advanced Services engagement. As of release 4.1, Prime
Network native support is deprecated. As of release 4.2, Prime Network will not natively support third-party devices,
and a Cisco Advanced Services contract will be required for their enablement and support.
3
Which Jar File is a Device Using?
To identify the jar file that is being used by any devices that are managed by Prime Network, open the Administration
client and check the properties of the VNE. In the General tab, the driver file name is displayed.
The following example shows a Cisco UBR 10012 that is using the driver file Cisco-UBR100xx-v6.0.0.0.jar that was
provided in the base release of Prime Network 4.1 (“DP 0”).
With this information, you can check if a newer version is available and what new support it provides (see the “New
Support” sections in this document).

Supported Protocol: FTP
Prerequisite:
 TL1 should be enabled in the VNE.
 Default TL1 port is 3082.
Prime Network FTP username and password should be configured in the GW. This is required because Prime Network initiates the
FTP operation using a TL1 interface, and the TL1 commands require the username and password as input parameters. After you
add this information to the registry, the credentials are automatically read when needed. If there is any special character in the
ftp-username and ftp-password, CCM job will be failed if any of the special characters reserved for special use in the command-line
interface on the device.
PN_HOME#runRegTool.sh -gs 127.0.0.1 setEncrypted 0.0.0.0 nccm-settings/ftpsettings/username ftp-username
PN_HOME#runRegTool.sh -gs 127.0.0.1 setEncrypted 0.0.0.0 nccm-settings/ftpsettings/password ftp-password
Restrict the FTP configuration such that the Prime Network Unit User has read-write access only to the
$PRIME_NETWORK_HOME/tftp directory and hence does not have access to unwanted files outside the home directory.
 FTP service should be up and running on the GW/UNIT.

Support for Command Scripts in 4.1
The following tables provide device support information for Prime Network command scripts. These scripts can
be launched from the Vision client by right-clicking an NE and choosing Commands. Please note the following:
• Scripts may be updated in later releases to support additional script attributes.
• A command may be listed as supported on a general operating system (“Cisco IOS devices”), and the
same command may be listed as supported on a specific operation system version (“Cisco IOS 15.3(1)”).
This indicates that while the command is supported on all IOS versions, it was explicitly tested on the IOS
15.3.(1) version. It does not mean the other versions are not supported.
