Cisco Prime Central 1.1
What Is the Value of Cisco Prime Central?
Cisco Prime Central
Cisco Prime™ Central provides a centralized management interface for all components
of the Cisco Prime for IP Next‑Generation Networks (NGN) suite, giving users
access to tightly integrated cross-domain operator workflows. This helps operators
to seamlessly and efficiently execute all service lifecycle tasks including design,
fulfillment, assurance, and analysis. Cisco Prime Central drastically simplifies network
management and increases operational efficiencies while promoting high consistencies
in the delivery and management of services (Figure 1).
Cisco Prime Central provides:
What Problems Does It Help Solve?
• Common user management services with role-based access control (RBAC)
for efficient rollout of role-based assignments to prevent errors and unintended
changes
To remain competitive, service providers must accelerate time to market of highquality, revenue-generating services while reducing operating expenses (OpEx) and
capital expenditures (CapEx). Unfortunately, many network management solutions
today are point solutions that only provide pockets of control. This contributes to
operational inefficiencies, which in turn can delay the launch of services, adversely
affect quality of service (QoS), and drive up costs. Cisco Prime Central alleviates these
challenges by functioning as the centralized user portal for all components of the Cisco
Prime for IP NGN suite, and enabling intelligent end-to-end management of the entire
next generation network—from access, all the way to the core.
• Centralized administrative interface for all components installed as part of the
Cisco Prime for IP NGN management solution to accelerate design, fulfillment,
assurance, and analysis tasks
• Secured single sign-on access to cross-domain operator workflows with
point-and-click capabilities for provisioning, troubleshooting, and performance
analysis
• Common event/alarm management for advanced troubleshooting and viewing of
faulty situations across all network layers
• Unified inventory view of the entire network with role-based access that increases
efficiencies in inventory management and prevents errors
• Support for standards-based northbound interfaces and integration “probes”
• Out-of-the-box integration with Cisco Prime for IP NGN components
