Our Dear Mother Mary

Mary, Virgin Mother of Jesus, our dear Mother, too.

We give ourselves to you,

The virtue of acceptance describes our ability to look at the attitudes and actions of those around us and then just stop and consider without judging them. The virtue of acceptance means that you may protect us that we look beyond what we see—a person’s and guide us to Jesus, your Son. skin colour, ethnic background, religion, age,

Keep us from all sin gender, sexual orientation, and see a person that we may love Jesus created and loved by God. with a pure love as you always did.

May we always enjoy the help of your prayers,

An accepting person…

 Sees the positive traits in all people even if s/he

for you bring us life and salvation through Jesus Christ your Son.

Safe Schools Procedures for Lunch

As part of our safe schools procedures in September we established with parent/guardians where their child is expected to eat lunch during the school week. If your child normally stays at school for lunch, we require parental permission in the form of a letter allowing your child to leave the school premises to eat lunch outside of school property. Letters of permission from parents must be handed to the classroom teacher in the morning so this information can also be communicated to office staff.

Students are not allowed to call home to ask permission to leave school property during lunch time.

If a student forgets their lunch, we contact parents to make arrangements to have lunch provided or sent to the school.

We have also been noticing a large amount of students waiting in the front foyer between the entrance doors for their parents to drop off their lunch. This has been a safety concern as students are running out the door to vehicles stopped in our bus loading zone and they are also opening the door to visitors which defeats the purpose of our security entrance system. Please review these rules with your children. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Class List Formation for 2015-2016

In preparation for the new school year, we will soon begin to look at class placements. Although class placements will not be final until mid-September at the earliest, it is necessary to start our class organization with sufficient time for determining staffing, materials and equipment needs. We consider a number of criteria when determining our class lists, e.g. academic strengths, needs and overall achievement, individual work habits and study skills, maturity, and placement history. We do our best to ensure that classes provide a balanced learning environment for our students. However, for a number of reasons, we are at times limited in our placement options

We ask that you do not make requests for specific teachers as teacher placements may change if we are required to re-organize. However, we do appreciate your input concerning your child’s unique needs. If you have specific concerns about you’re child’s placement in

Achieving, Believing & Caring

September 2015, we ask that you put these concerns in writing to the Principal – Mr. Dolan. Please include the following information about your child: his or her strengths and/or needs a description of his/her learning style the type of learning environment in which your child has experienced the most success

- Please keep in mind that it is not always possible to respond to your requests regarding placement in general, and more specifically in combined (split) classes. We therefore ask for your understanding and flexibility in this area.

Rest assured that our decisions are made only after careful consideration of all available information. A decision is based on the individual good of each child, balanced with the common good of the entire school community.

Are You Moving?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are planning on moving to a new location and your children will not be returning to Father Clair Tipping for the 2015-2016 school year. This information will help us with our planning for next year. Thank you.

Concussion Policy, Guidelines and Protocol

Dufferin-Peel Catholic District Board has developed a

School Concussion Policy and Guidelines for students who have been diagnosed with a concussion by either a medical or nurse practitioner. School staff cannot diagnose a concussion. Anytime a student reports to the office with a head injury, the parent/guardian will be contacted and the incident will be entered into the school’s “Documen tation of Head Injuries” log. Your child will be given an information pamphlet entitled “We want to give you a heads up…Concussions are serious.” This pamphlet outlines the signs and symptoms of concussions. It also includes information about what to do if you suspect your child has a concussion and how a concussion is treated.

Guidelines have been developed by Dufferin-Peel CDSB to support a 10phase “Return to Activity” process following a diagnosed concussion. These guidelines include 5 phases for “ R eturn to Learn” followed by 5 phases for “Return to Play” . With parental consent, school administration will work collaboratively with school psychology staff to monitor your child’s progress through the 10 phases. For more information, please contact your child’s school.
