SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training Wednesday, April 24, 2013 1:30-4:00 p.m. UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON Science and Engineering Classroom Building (SEC), Classroom 204 SKYWARN Storm Spotters are a group of trained volunteers that watch the skies during severe weather and relay reports back to the National Weather Service (NWS). Join us at the SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training to for this important training from the National Weather Service Houston/Galveston Weather Forecast Office. In this training, you will learn: Basic Thunderstorm Development How to Spot Severe Weather What to Report How to Report Severe Weather to the National Weather Service (NWS) Basic Severe Weather Safety The NWS depends on accurate severe weather reports from trained SKYWARN Storm Spotters in order to issue accurate weather warnings in the local area.
