Teenage Alike (a-LIE-kah) lives in Brooklyn's Fort Greene
neighborhood with her parents and younger sister. Alike quietly but
firmly embraces her identity as a lesbian and is looking for her first lover.
When Alike's mother presses her to befriend a colleague's
daughter, Alike finds her to be a pleasant companion. Alike strives to
get through adolescence with grace, humor, and tenacity –
sometimes succeeding, sometimes not, but always moving forward.
