Read me Attention : • DASYLab program does not work under Windows 3.x. This version of DASY Lab S has been created for education. Version S with driver for sound card and printer interface. • You need the user privileg „load and remove device driver“ to do so. Usually only administrators have this right, so you may need to ask your administrator to install the SoundDrv.kmd via load_kmd.exefile in the folder DASYLab S (inside the folder dasylab). This read me-file contains information on the following subjects 1. Operation Systems 2. System requirements 3. Installation 4. Deinstallation of the program 5. Programme notes 6. Help with problems 7. Hotline 8. Licensing conditions 1. Operation systems The interactive and multimedia electronic document was tested with the following operation systems: • Windows 98 SE • Windows NT (Service Pack 6a) • Windows 2000 (Service Pack 2) • Windows XP (Home Edition/Professional Version) 2. System requirements You will require a multimedia PC. The minimum requirement is a Pentium processor with 266 MHz pulse frequency (video playback), Windows 95/98ME with at least 32 MB main memory or Windows 2000/XP with at least 128 MB is required as the operating system. DASYLab requires at least a 20x Speed CD-ROM drive, a graphics card with 256 colours and a resolution of 1024*768 (XGA) or higher, a Windows-supported Duplex 16 bit sound card and a mouse. Roughly 15 MB hard drive capacity are required for the installation of the DASYLab S program. 3. Installation The installation of DASYLab and the complete learning system is described in detail in the Introduction to the book “An Interactive Multimedia Introduction to Signal Processing” and to the electronic document SiProSys.PDF. The easiest way is via the user interface which starts automatically after insertion of the CD. It is largely self-explanatory. 4. Deinstallation of the program In order to deinstall the DASYLab software and the Acrobat Reader click on to the operating system control field “Software”. You will find it in the start menu under “Settings – control panel”. In some cases not all the folders or files will be deleted. In this case correct the programs. 5. Programme notes Although in the production of this CD great care was taken to make it possible to use it with all the Windows Versions installed at the present time, in rare cases certain restrictions have to be noted. In the following possible problems and ways of dealing with them are described. Problems with long file names: In correctly installed systems using Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 we are not aware of any problems. If the CD ROM drive is only operated in compatibility mode folders containing files with long names cannot be read. With Windows NT 3.1 this is unfortunately always the case. The DASYLab installations include schematic circuit diagrams with long file names (they are correctly created during installation); the names were reduced to the 8.3 name format for the preinstalled loadable demo-versions of the CD. The directory (including subdirectories) of the additional 32 bit demo circuit diagrams “\SAMPLES\4.0\ ..” can only respond with a correctly installed CD ROM drive. Problems accessing the CD via a network: In order to access the CD via a network you should explicitly link up the PC with the approved CD ROM drive as a network drive. 6. Help with problems If problems arise in installation check the computer configuration and compare this with the values given above. Alternative possibilities are to be found in the already mentioned Introduction. In the folder Documents you will find a detailed description of hardware and software for DASYLab S 7. Hotline For the enclosed S Version of DASYLab support is not provided by National Instruments. On www.ni.com/dasylab or www.dasylab.de you will find numerous hints, FAQs and contacts. 8.
