WESTLAKE STUDENT’S STORY PUBLISHED IN
NATIONAL LITERARY MAGAZINE
Neige DeAngelis, a Dover Intermediate School fifth grade student, won a
national story contest for Cricket magazine for her story about a temperamental
fire-breathing dragon named Mr. Feugo.
Neige’s story, “350 Words or Else!” chronicles the scene of Mr. Feugo, editor of
“Dragonfly” magazine, being upset when readers sent in 10-page stories for
publication. Neige’s story was published in the October 2014 issue of “Cricket”
magazine.
Fifth-grade teacher Donna Dieterich encourages her students to spread their
creative efforts. Neige’s story was chosen from the May/June 2014 story contest,
earning a second prize for ages 10 and under. “Cricket” magazine publishes
fiction and classic literature, as well as nonfiction stories on culture, history,
science and the arts. Each issue includes bug characters who offer humorous
commentary on the stories.
