TEXT MESSAGING COMING TO PARENT
NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
The Westlake City Schools are adding text messaging
capabilities to SchoolMessenger, the parent notification
system we now use for phone calls and emails regarding
parent outreach, emergency broadcasts, school closings,
student attendance alerts and other communication
needs.
The system will be configured to send text messages to
recipients who agree to receive them. In the coming
weeks, we will encourage parents to confirm we have
accurate cell phone numbers and ask them to participate.
There are only two requirements to receive messages via
SMS text:
1.
An opt-in confirmation from the parent’s wireless
device.
2.
Completion of student information through
Registration Gateway, the online student information
system. ONY CELL PONE NUMBERS IN THE
SCHOOLMESSENGER DATABASE VIA REGISTRATION
GATEWAY WILL BE INCLUDED IN TEXT MESSAGING.
To Opt-In to Receive Text Messages:

Text “Yes” to 68453 from each wireless device on
which you wish to receive text messages.

To receive texts on multiple devices, each device
must opt in by texting “Yes” to 68453.

you do not have text messaging enabled on your wireless
