PAUL CATHOLIC SECONDARY SCHOOL All Grade 9’s who will be attending St. Paul Catholic Secondary School in the Fall are invited to the “Grade 9 and Newcomers Welcome Orientation” where students will see their new school, receive helpful information regarding their first year of secondary school, meet their future classmates, win prizes and enjoy a pizza lunch! Date: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 Time: 10:00 a.m.—12:00 noon Location: St. Paul Cafetorium TRANSPORTATION ELIGIBILITY Parents are responsible for making arrangements for their children’s transportation unless they are eligible for bus transportation. In October, when it has been established whether or not there is space on a full size bus, students who do not meet eligibility requirements may apply for a seat in accordance with the "Courtesy Seat Policy". Those students who rode the bus this year using the “Courtesy Transportation” policy will need to reapply in writing in September. If you wish to be considered for a courtesy seat, please indicate this in writing to Ms. Loftus stating the name of your child, grade and address and your reason for the request. Letters will be received the first day of school and seats will be awarded by considering distance, siblings and grade level. The decision on the distribution of courtesy seats may be rescinded during the year if new students enrol who are eligible for the seat. Bus lists for eligible riders will be posted on the front doors the last week of August. Please visit the following website for the answers to many frequently asked questions including eligibility: http://www.stopr.ca ST.TIMOTHY ANNUAL“FUN FAIR” We truly value and celebrate family as a school community. Many thanks to the endless hours of devotion and hard work on the part of several parents under the leadership of Linda Kostick and Rosa Diluzio. These individuals were instrumental in organizing a fabulous day of celebration of families where we gathered at the school for games, activities, food, refreshments, music and socializing. CONTINUE SUMMER READING We continue to be grateful to parents who have encouraged their children to read during the school year. Please continue to support your child’s learning by encouraging reading at home throughout the summer months. Please check your local library for summer programs. FREE DENTAL TREATMENT The Children in Need of Treatment (CINOT) program pays for basic dental treatments for children and youth whose families or guardians cannot afford dental care. Children and youth may be eligible for the CINOT program if: they are under 18 years of age; the child lives in Peel; the child has a valid Ontario health card; the parent does not have a private or government dental plan (i.e. Ont. Works, Ont. Disability Support Program); the cost of going to the dentist is too expensive for the family. Contact Peel Public Health at 905-7997700 to book a free dental screening. We are truly fortunate to be the recipient of the dedicated efforts of many volunteers. Be it once, daily or weekly, all volunteers, by their presence, have enriched the climate of St. Timothy School. To each of our volunteers, thank you for the time you have managed to stretch out of your busy schedules. Thank you for the joy you have brought to your child’s heart when you volunteer. Thank you for helping us to provide the many valuable programs and activities that enrich our school community. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the parents who have worked on our School Council this year. They have fundraised and built community in many ways. Most importantly, the Catholic School Council helps to strengthen the connection between church, family and school. We encourage all parents to consider joining School Council in September. Thank you to Superintendent Charles Blanchard for your outstanding guidance and dedication throughout the school year. On behalf of St. Timothy School Community, we would like to express our sincere appreciation to Trustees Bruno Iannicca and Mario Pascucci for your on-going support and representation. A formal welcome to Ms. Feather who will remain at St. Timothy School as a full time permanent teacher. Congratulations! Farewell to Mrs. Granzotto, part-time planning time teacher, who has been assigned to teaching duties at another school. Thank you for your contributions to St. Timothy School Community. You will be missed! On behalf of the staff and faculty of St. Timothy School we would like to thank all parents/guardians for their overwhelming support during this school year.
