Westlake City School District
Showcases Young Inventors at District
Competition
Here’s your chance to see just how creative our youth of today can be when it comes to
solving problems and inventing solutions to them.
The Westlake City School Districts will holds its Invention Convention Fair at Dover
Intermediate School on March 21 from 8 a.m. to Noon. Invention Convention is a process
of solving a problem, developing the invention idea to solve the problem, and designing a
prototype of the solution.
More than 100 K-8 student inventors will be judged at the district fair, with the top
inventions moving on to Northeast Regional Invention Convention Fair at Cleveland
State University on May 2. Come on out and see the inventions!
Offered free to participating schools, The Invention Convention inspires K-8 students to
create and problem solve while developing their inventions. Over 1 million Ohio kids to
date have participated since 1993, creating useful, sometimes crazy, and always
interesting inventions.
At the Northeast Regional Invention Convention Fair students will compete for the
$2,500 grand prize and other grade category prizes. The Invention Convention also
sponsors a 'Teacher of Excellence' award for a deserving teacher at the regional fair. The
winning teacher receives a technology package and other great prizes for their classroom.
