December is here along with all the excitement! We cannot believe how the months flew by. The students are beginning to self-regulate and engage in activities that increase their awareness of others and foster respect for individual differences. We have witnessed growth in both their social and personal skills. We really enjoy listening to their funny stories and comments. Thank you to all parents who have donated items to our classroom. We will definitely put all items to good use this year. You are all very generous!! Thank you very much!!! It is greatly appreciated! Student interests: Students have been looking forward to completing their “Santa's Workshop”. They will be incorporating their LEGO inquiry structures in the “Workshop”!!!! In this center, students will have the opportunity to paint, draw, and label Christmas items, use blocks and other manipulatives (LEGO) to build toys. Students will also be creating a nativity scene in the classroom. We look forward to discussing the real gift of Christmas -The birth of Jesus. Junior Kindergarten: *The JK students will continue to work on letter sounds and practicing printing. It is important that the students continue to practice each sound and practice. This home practice will help prepare your child to begin stretching sounds and eventually write words (a goal for the end of the year). Senior Kindergarten *It is important that the SK students continue to practice reading and writing their high frequency words sent home in their snuggle up and read bags. As they are vital in helping your child become fluent readers. Guided reading has been a part of our weekly routine and we will continue throughout the year. There are many books found in Scholastic book orders that you may wish to consider to help promote sight word practice and concepts about print when reading.
