MAGNA CARTA RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT
Objective: Identify and explain the Magna Carta and how it relates to current governing documents.
Read the information in your textbook on the Magna Carta and use the internet to research additional
information. Some suggested websites include: constitution.org, britannia.com, thinkquest.org. Next,
you will create a Microsoft Word document that highlights the most important aspects of the document.
There are two parts to the assignment.
PART I – Who, What, When, Where & Why?
Provide a 1-2 sentence explanation on each of the following of the Magna Carta. Use complete
sentences for each.

PART II – FIVE ELEMENTS OF THE MAGNA CARTA
Pick 5 of the items in the Magna Carta and analyze each one with the following information:
 List the actual number of the item you choose
 1-2 sentence explanation of the item (in your own words)
 How does it relate to current government documents or laws?

today’s laws on what happens to property when a person dies.
