CAREER EXPLORATION – WORKPLACE SKIT In groups of no more than 4, choose one of the workplace scenarios listed below or develop your own idea and put on a 3-4 minute skit. You must first develop a script and assign a role to every member of your group. When conducting your skit each group member should have their lines memorized and cannot be reading from the script. At the end of your skit provide a brief explanation on the purpose of your skit, your personal feelings on the situation and also be ready to answer any questions. You may use props such as a desk, chair, computer, phone, etc. to simulate a business environment. In your skit it is imperative you show both an example of the right way to handle the situation and also the wrong way. Potential Skit Topics: -How does morale contribute to productivity and efficiency to the workplace? -How do you handle observing a co-worker stealing money or supplies or cheating on their time card? -Show the importance of retaining employees to avoid additional hiring & training costs -Who cleans up a major mess in the bathroom caused by a customer, the supervisor or one of the subordinates? -How do you handle a co-worker who is constantly off-task, late and expects you to do all the work yet tries to take credit and often gets credit from the boss? -How do you deal with a co-worker or supervisor who makes inappropriate jokes at work or makes you feel uncomfortable? -Demonstrate the dangers of workplace hazards and some do’s and don’ts from a safety standpoint in the office. - Show how synergy, the whole is greater than the sum of all its parts, is true in the workplace and leads to greater productivity & efficiency. -How to handle asking for time off, requesting vacation dates and/or calling in sick -Demonstrate the proper way to work in a team with positive team working & communication skills ____ / 5 ____ / 5 ____ / 5 ____ / 5 ____ / 20 Script Performance: covers topic fully, shows creativity & understanding of the topic. 1/2 point deducted for every 10 seconds falling out of time range Effort, positive attitude & participation in your group. Notes: 1 paragraph explaining what is happening in the other skits & the importance of these topics in the workplace TOTAL POSSIBLE -points will be deducted for talking or disrupting other skits.
