News from Room 113 A Peek at our Week Reading: We have talked a lot about the concept of a word, how letters together make up a word, and that spaces separate our words so we know when a word ends and a new word begins. When reading at home, continue to reinforce these important concepts. Phonics: (L, K, Y) Please continue to practice all of the sounds we have introduced and return their yellow folders on Monday. We have also been leaning about words that rhyme and reading a lot of rhyming books. The kinders have been doing a lot of practice with beginning sounds of words. Math: Our focus these past two weeks have been on the concept of zero, working with benchmarks of 5 and 10, and continued practice of number recognition. I will be sending home their first Math Game and manipulatives on Tuesday! Writing: We will start using our Writing Folders to store our writing pieces we work on in class. Please send your child’s “Writing Ideas Bubble” back to school on Wednesday, October 14 so we can attach it to the front of their folders.
