News from Room 113 A Peek at our Week November 20, 2015 Reading: We started our Fiction Unit. We learned about realistic fiction and fantasy stories and practiced retelling important events of a story from the beginning, through the middle, to the end. Try reading some fiction books at home with engaging illustrations and practice retelling stories. Phonics: (A-Z, or, ar, ur, ir, ch, sh, th, wh, ing) Practice these sounds and point them out in books at home! Math: We wrapped up our 2D shape unit and learned the different properties of a circle, oval, square, rectangle, trapezoid, triangle, rhombus, and hexagon. Have your kinder describe those shapes to you! Please play the math game throughout the week and sign and return the bottom portion on Friday in their purple folders. Writing: It is so exciting to see the kinders stretch out their words so they can write. We have been doing a lot of work writing books and will soon decide what book they would like to publish.
