Outline
Thesis Statement: Provide a revised thesis statement that clearly introduces what you
will analyze and what you will prove.
I. Topic sentence of first paragraph—This should clearly relate to the general topic as
well as the thesis statement.
A. “Quote from A Tale of Two Cities” (Author pg).
B. Explanation of quote—a brief statement that connects the quote to your topic
sentence.
C. “Quote from outside source” (Author Pg).
D.. Explanation of quote—how does the research relate to your example.
E. “Quote from A Tale of Two Cities” (Author Pg).
F. Explanation of quote—how does the above quote prove your point.
Follow this same format for your next paragraph. Remember, each topic is not
necessarily one paragraph. For every A you must have a B and for every I you must
have a II. Use complete sentences for all parts of the outline and quote the text
carefully.
Works Cited: You must also submit a typed, double-spaced
works cited that includes at least five outside sources.
