Objective: Give a 3-4 minute speech meeting the requirements below. Use a PowerPoint presentation.
Expectations (Provide at least one slide per expectation):
1. Answer one of the following: How does the novel force you to question specific traditions and expectations
OR What are the different “eyes” through which you see the world? Use at least one direct quote for
support.
2. Define the voice of a character. Use syntax and diction for support. Use at least one passage for support.
3. Define a theme of the novel using motifs/symbols, conflict, or character change. Use at least one direct
quote for support.
4. Define the audience the novel would appeal to. Use at least one direct quote for support.
5. Compare/Contrast the novel to another fictional text we read in class using at least one of the following
literary elements: methods of characterization, means of establishing attitude, pt. of view, suspense/
emotional impact, motifs and symbols, or setting. Use at least one direct quote for support.
Reminders:
1. The quotes throughout the presentation should span the whole novel.
2. The oral component of the presentation will provide an explanation of each slide/quote.
3. PowerPoint presentation will be assessed for aesthetics/clarity/organization/overall connection to the oral
component.
