- Brian F. led us in prayer
- shared Book of Life which is kept in the Chapel
Alex M. and Chris G. welcomed everyone to meeting
Jenna gave overview of all happenings
-Welcome back BBQ went well
- having bake sale-donations to Sick Kids
-Breast Cancer awareness-$2.00 donation for Dress down dayWed., Oct 28- students will receive pink Breast Cancer ribbon to
wear
-Nov 6- dance,
Spirit week various activities such as- Pep rally, grades will dress by
colours, bake sale, face painting
- Breakfast Club-starting Nov.-student council involved- starts at
7:45am-8:05- will have granola bars, juice boxes- will be looking for
donations
Kelly D. reports Council has $2092.42 in account
-if there are wish lists for funds to be distributed
-Alex M. & Chris- looking for suggestions on possible Fundraisers for
Council- discussion on previous years what worked what was done
- looking for donations and Volunteers–to get word out there for
Breakfast club
- CCSC meeting Oct 15- Mississauga east family- breakout rooms—
met other chairs- very informative
- CCCSC meeting Nov 7. For Council executive to attend- very
informative
- put together ideas and requests for Pro Grants from Ministryshort timeframe to organize but sent in- speaker Doreen LawsonRaising Children of Character-if approved- possibly send free tickets
home
-Nov 20-Talent show- at intermission School Council to sell chips,
refreshments
-Rosa C. & Caroline H.-parent interviews- Oct 22- watch for
interview forms to go home earlier this year- won’t have marks to
review
- Mississauga Settlement worker to have table at Interview night
-mid Nov- mid terms go home
- Retreats-gr. 9-Sept., gr. 10- Oct., gr. 11- Nov.,gr. 12- Dec
- Thanksgiving baskets for Vincent de Paul overwhelming- 3000
items
- Student voice- promote leadership

- Haitian dancers- gr 9 &10- period 4- Oct 26 at 1:00
-Act Now- assist with donations to help build new school in Haiti
Tulips now on sale until Oct 31- $2.00 each- write name on of loved
one, friends- planted outside to come up in spring- also can write
names or dedication in book of Life
- idea for parent council to sell tulips at interview night and have
Book of Life there too
-Nov 7- weekend Christmas Bazaar at St. Dominic Church
-Tim B.- updated on the Broadcasting SHSM-allows to map out to specific pathways for students – cross section
of student levels involved- gr. 11 & 12- St. Paul is only school with
Broadcasting
- various certifications for students - Occupational safety, WHMIS
Apple pro- certification from Apple rep comes to school
- co-op completed at school –Studio 30
- different areas of involvement- videos for board, Talent show,
Award banquet, school play
-Rosa C. - updated on Environmental SHSM - 1st year at school
-APRIL TRIP- Canadian Ecologist Centre-Manattwage—Highland

-PIP program- now up to 12 students
- wish list suggestion for council funds-$3900- for padded room and
new lock
-Mr. Vicars- scoreboard not working- $1200 to repair
- Alternative Ed.- is an ongoing adjustment period but for the most
is working
-Mentorships program started working well - gr. 12 students
- School goal - Math gr.9 to improve
-York Un. Partnerships- great success since Sept 15 student
teachers
- possible free speakers to come in - Speaker from York
- Award breakfast Oct 20
-discussion on award and Honour role procedures and criteriasome students did not receive Honour role that was deserving - in
past students who achieve 80% average in all subjects but if any
mark was 55% or lower –were not eligible- have now changed it to
50% and over in all subjects- some parents felt as long as students
achieved 80% average should receive Honour role- not to take into
consideration 50 % in any subject- Paul to bring discussion to
Awards committee
- year book information of awards and Honour students not in
correct years
