The Committee reviewed a proposal to update the University’s Attendance Policy put forward by
several constituencies within the university including the Department of Athletics, the University
Athletics Advisory Committee, the Registrar’s Office, and the Provost’s Office. The Committee
met with representatives from the Department of Athletics, the University Athletics Advisory
Committee, the Registrar’s Office, and the Provost’s Office to work through a series of drafts.
The Columbia Faculty Senate approved the final draft of the proposal at the December 3, 2008
meeting, and the provisions of the new policy will go into effect with the Fall 2009 semester.
There was another business issue relating to the clarification of language in the “Graduation with
Honors” entry of the Undergraduate Bulletin. The proposed change was discussed within the
committee and the new description was adopted.
Andrew Graciano (Department of Art) and Ron Davis (School of Music) were elected as new
members for 2009-2010. Craig Keeney will chair the Committee.
