(RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS) (open to young adults – grade 9 and up) What is R.C.I.A.? It is a process established for individuals (grade 9 and up) to become Catholic and receive the sacraments of initiation – Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This “spiritual journey” is centered on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus and the Church he founded. Our classes began on TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8th. They run from 7-9 pm. If you or anyone you know is interested in learning more about what it means to be a Catholic and being a part of this “incredible journey”, please contact Pauline Murphy through the church office at (905) 793-8030, ext. 102. *** ATTENTION ALL CAREGIVERS *** There will be a meeting this Wednesday, November 4 at 7 p.m. Looking forward to seeing everyone. Our mission was to interview refugees and gather information about their living conditions; where they are living, how they are getting food and medication, etc. Upon our return, we prepared a report with this information along with our recommendations for Cardinal Collins and the UN. Of greater importance, we interviewed these refugees for possible resettlement in Canada. It was only through the grace of prayer that we found strength enough to listen to their heartbreaking stories. Their houses and businesses bombed, family members killed or injured, women raped by the soldiers and children traumatized by the war screaming each night. Meeting face-to-face with these broken men, women and children was one of the most powerful experiences of my life. To meet them in their despair, their fear…their lack of human dignity. St. Anthony of Padua Parish has always been active in social justice for all, regardless of race, creed or religion. We are continuing our outreach to our brothers and sisters in need by accepting an Iraqi family of 3 (father, mother and 7 month old son) as part of PROJECT HOPE. We hope to welcome them as part of our Christian community, perhaps as early as Christmas since persecuted Christians are being fast tracked. As well, I am happy to announce that the Kindeke family, our family of 8 from Ghana could be arriving in January. At this time, we are asking for your financial support for these 2 families. Again this year, Linda and I will be travelling to the refugee camps in Ghana on November 19. Your financial donation will also help us to purchase much needed medicines, food, bibles, missals, etc. St. Bakhita Catholic Church in the Krisan Refugee Camp celebrated its first mass since 2005 during our visit in November 2013. Since this time, mass is celebrated monthly and the sacraments of baptism and 1st communion are being received. The parish has grown so much that we have the bishop’s permission to build a new church in the camp. Donations for this wonderful project are also most welcomed. If you require further information, please feel free to contact me through the church office at 905-793-8030, ext. 102. With much thanks. God bless. Pauline Attention Grade 7 & 8 Confirmation Students All students and parents of the grade 7 & 8 candidates that will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation during this school year, must come to the Confirmation classes every Saturday during the month of November. For more info call 416-968-0997 or email: What is Eucharistic Adoration? Understood simply, Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honouring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. In a deeper sense, it involves “the contemplation of the Mystery of Christ truly present before us” During Eucharistic Adoration, we “watch and wait”, we remain “silent” in His Presence and open ourselves to His Graces which flow from the Eucharist… By worshiping the Eucharistic Jesus, we become what God wants us to be! Like a magnet, the Lord draws us to Himself and gently transforms us. In its fullest essence… Eucharistic Adoration is “God and Man reaching out for each other, at the same time!” Light the candle before the Blessed Sacrament: On Tuesdays, if you wish to light a candle on the Altar before the Blessed Sacrament in the memory of your family members.
