You give students all the words to form one sentence in mixed-up order. Students then re-arrange the words to form a grammatically correct sentence. Each student needs his/her own sheet of paper. You write words on the whiteboard then give students a few minutes to form a sentence. Students work individually. Students raise their hands when they think they've formed a good sentence. You walk over and check. Once most of the class has the answer, write the sentence on the board and ask if anyone has questions Grammar Blast Adjectives and Adverbs http://www.eduplace.com/cgi-bin/hme-quizstart.cgi?Grade=3&Unit=4&Topic=Adjectives+and+Adverbs&x=31&y=8 Noun http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/grammar/nouns.htm Verbs in Space http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/grammar/verbs.htm Noun Dunk http://www.harcourtschool.com/activity/basketball/index_pre.html Past/Present sentence match with verb forms http://www.harcourtschool.com/activity/past_and_future/index_pre.html Pronoun http://www.harcourtschool.com/activity/sea_park/index_pre.html Verbs http://www.eduplace.com/kids/hme/k_5/quizzes/ Adjectives and Adverbs http://www.eduplace.com/kids/hme/k_5/quizzes Pronouns http://www.eduplace.com/cgi-bin/hme-quizdirections.cgi?Grade=3&Unit=6&Topic=Pronouns Barrett | 1/1/2011 CC.3.L.1 Conventions of Standard English: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. 2 CC.4.L.1 Conventions of Standard English: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. Communicate with other classrooms online using correct grammar when writing Complex Word http://www.funenglishgames.com/grammargames/verbnounadjective.html For this activity students work in pairs or small groups to prepare a description of an animal. (For a longer activity have each group prepare 3-5 separate animal descriptions. Note that if you allow students to write out their descriptions, this becomes more like a focused practice activity.) Once students have prepared their descriptions, each group takes turns telling a description to the rest of the class, who then guess the name of the animal. Short Speeches (2-5 minutes per student) can be prepared for homework and presented in class. It's probably best not to interrupt the student at all during his/her speech. You can use index cards (one per student) to provide individual feedback, or you can just take notes and review the target grammar and vocabulary after all the students have presented their speeches Fragments http://www.chompchomp.com/frag01/frag01.01.htm Adjective Adventure http://www.sheppardsoftware.com/grammar/adjectives.htm Irregular Verbs http://www.chompchomp.com/irregular02/irregular02.01.htm Road to Grammar http://www.roadtogrammar.com/ Writing http://www.tv411.org/lessons/cfm/writing.cfm?str=writing&num=4&act=2& que=1 Barrett | 1/1/2011 CC.8.L.1 Conventions of Standard English: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking.
