The Tom Tittel Memorial Award
This award is presented annually by the Ontario Guidance Leadership Association to a
student who is pursuing a post-secondary pathway in the social service area. This
award was established in honour of Tom Tittel, former head of Guidance at Downsview
Secondary School and former Guidance Consultant for the York Region Catholic
District School Board. His caring personality and positive approach in engaging
students to be the best they could be became his trademark. He was instrumental in
the formation of OGLA which has established this honour in his memory for his
dedication to youth in our schools today.
The applicant must be a graduating student who is pursuing a post-secondary
pathway in the social service area (child care, teacher, social worker etc.).
The applicant should have demonstrated outstanding leadership in one or more school
or community organization.
The applicant must submit a 250 word description of activities relevant to the social
service area.
The award value is $200.
The applicant must clearly indicate name, school and board as well as the name and
phone number of the counsellor verifying and supporting the application.
