A Prayer for May
Hail Mary
Hail Mary, full of grace!
The Lord is with Thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
And blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
Pray for us sinners,
Now and at the hour of our Death.
May is Mary’s

are not to wear anything strapless, spaghetti straps, or have bare midriffs. Outfits that are appropriate for small children may not be appropriate for older children. Shorts are permitted for both

Changes for Sacrament of Confirmation
We have recently been made aware that the Sacrament of
Confirmation will now be celebrated while students are in
GRADE 7. This means next year we will have a double cohort of Grade
7’s AND Grade 8’s receiving the sacrament of Confirmation.
St. Joseph Parish can expect to Confirm approximately 750 students in
total next year. Information will be forthcoming from the parish and
our school.
Intermediate Girls’ Basketball Team
Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls’ Basketball Team - they had an outstanding season. Our girls lost in the semi-finals to St. Faustina.
They played with spirit and heart - never giving up. Team members are: Hanna, Jordyn,
Katie, Annie, Caroline, Rebecca, Julia, Daniella and Jessica. Your coaches Mr. Abbas and Mr.
Bernais are so proud of you!!!
Just like the Leaf’s girls - maybe Next YEAR!!
Student Safety
Student safety is of paramount importance to the staff at St. Joseph
School. Our staff is diligent about stranger awareness with parents and
guardians in and around our school. Please keep in mind that while you
are NOT a stranger to your own child(ren) and maybe not to a few others either - BUT YOU ARE A STRANGER TO EVERY OTHER CHILD
IN THE SCHOOL!
Therefore - the protocol is - sign out your children by coming to the office
checking in with Mrs. Carabetta and signing them out in the office. Do
not go down the halls without first signing in and getting a visitor’s pass
from Mrs. Carabetta or the adult in the office.
At no time should you be on or near the yard, or in the hallways without
a visitor pass. Thanks so much to all you diligent parents who always
observe our visitor protocol.

Stations of the Cross - Presented by Our Youth Faith
Ambassadors
Our Youth Faith Ambassadors presented Our
Lord’s Passion to the entire school in two assemblies - one for the little ones and one for the
Junior - Intermediate students. It was a moving
and beautifully orchestrated event. If you were
lucky enough to see the presentation you know
this! If not - we have some pictures below of
the play. Thanks very much to Ms. Guerizzio,
Ms. Pelaccia, Mme. DaSilva and Ms. Shaelyn.
Grade 7’s Visit Sheridan
Grade A recent May 1st field trip allowed all of our girls and
boys in grade 7 to see first hand just how creative, challenging,
and rewarding a career in the skilled trades can be.
Students received a tour of Sheridan College's Skilled Trades
Campus in Oakville. The day was very 'hands on' as students
were able to handle tools and remote control machinery to
create an Ethernet cable, form metal, and inspect plumbing
systems to name a few of the experiences.
Students were surprised to learn that some skilled trades workers can earn as much as or more than lawyers! Besides that,
students learned the importance of choosing a career that they
can be passionate about so that they can not only become
productive, contributing members of society, but also can gain
a sense of happiness in their chosen career path using their
God given talents. Sheridan's presenters and teachers were
very informative and inspiring.
This field trip was well timed because in less than a year, grade
7 students will be picking courses for high
school. This experience will help students to keep their options
open when planning their future. For related information about
your child's future, see www.myblueprint.ca
French Plays
Mme. DaSilva organized French plays
for our school. Below pictured are Nathan, Matthew, Naya, Noah and Rita.
This is practice for our AIM curriculum
in French and allows our students to
orally practice their French. Everyone
loved the plays!!! Thanks so much!
