How to Study Long and Hard and Still Fail (or How to Get the Most Out of Your Studying) Stephen Chew Professor Samford University Talk Thursday, February 6th 6:30 - 7:45 026 Hosler Dr. Stephen L. Chew has been a professor and chair of psychology at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama since 1993. He was awarded the Buchanan Award for Classroom Teaching Excellence from Samford University in 1999. In 2005, he received the Robert S. Daniel Teaching Excellence Award from the Society for the Teaching of Psychology as the outstanding teacher of psychology at four-year colleges and universities. He was named the 2011 Outstanding Master's Universities and Colleges U.S. Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. In this talk for students he will describe how common study methods are very inefficient and can even lead to poor grades. He will describe more efficient methods that can lead to higher grades while spending less time studying.
