Minutes The 17th meeting of the 8th Senate of the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University was called to order at 5:07 p.m. on February 16, 2010 with the Speaker of the Senate in the chair. There were 24 senators present. Absent were Senators Huntsman, Powell, Brown, Gafford, Bell, Antle The minutes were read and approved. President- Kevin Smiley - The rally in Frankfort last Tuesday was canceled. It’s back on a week from today. It’s a really important thing that we’re doing this year. We’re leaving at 9 a.m. The keynote speaker is Colton Jesse. The parking forums are going on. You probably saw it in an e-mail. Executive Vice President- Kendrick Bryan - Student life foundation meeting tomorrow. - Working on western wedknesday stuff - Overtime bar and grill now has big red dollars - The seconds will be online soon Administrative VP Justin Thurman - Org Aid is ongoing. We have a bill up for first reading. If you have any questions about org aid, let me know Speaker of the Senate-Wade Pierce - We are moving the meeting to Monday at 5 because of the rally next week. There’s been a trend of suspending the bylaws. Let’s try to let things happen how they’re supposed to happen. Staff Reports Chief of Staff- Eric Smiley - We did the western Wednesday thing - There is a relay for life meeting tonight Director of Public Relations Angelika Masero -created a poster for the rally - working on an org aid banner Director of Academic and Student Affairs- Currie martin(Nominee) - No report Director of Information Technology- Sarah Howell - There are now links on the website There will be more banners on the site Received election dates for judicial council The info about the rally will be online Committee Reports Academic Affairs- Brandon Logan -no report Campus Improvements- Kaylee Egerer - We have a bill up for first read Come to the meeting tonight Legislative Research- Jacob Turner - For everyone who has bills up tonight, come see me to look over it. If anyone would like to join us, that’d be greatly appreciated. We may need to look at the constitution seeing how we do presidential resignations. Public Relations- Austin Wingate - We have a bill up for first read. We have to change my committee meeting times. There’s a forum tonight in Mass Media at 7:30 Try to get your friends to sign up for the Rally Student Affairs- Emmy Woosey - We have a bill going up for first read tonight. Special Orders University Committee President Kevin SmileyWe talked about putting a new music building on campus. There are talks about having a new campus master plan. Had a Parking and transportation meeting on Friday. Judicial Council Report -Election dates have been set -Elections are march 30. Bowling Green City Commission Report - They’re looking at a lot of different financial models for putting the new parking garage. There’s also talks about putting a hotel next to it. There was a technical question from Katie Stillwell: why didn’t you just apply for org aid? Kate Masterson- because it’s a campus wise event. The vote passed with five (5) opposed. Announcements Austin Wingate: recently I have been confronted by students on campus saying that we haven’t been doing anything on campus.
