Funding for International Night 2012
PURPOSE:
For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University
to allocate $500.00 for International Night 2012.
WHEREAS:
International Night is annually held in Downing University Center, and
WHEREAS:
The event is co-sponsored by Downing University Center and the Office
of International Programs, and
WHEREAS:
The event will be held on April 19, and
WHEREAS:
International Night will feature food, a cultural expo, and a concert
headlined by Trio Ginga, and
WHEREAS:
The program will serve as a beneficial partnership between the Student
Government Association, Downing University Center, and the Office of
International Programs.
THEREFORE:
Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western
Kentucky University allocates $500.00 from general Senate funding for
International Night 2012.

Library Extended Hours
PURPOSE:
For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University
to allocate $600.00 to WKU Libraries to keep the Helm-Cravens Library
open later during finals week.
WHEREAS:
The time around final examinations is typically a stressful time for
students, and
WHEREAS:
WKU Libraries are commonly visited by students during final week, and
WHEREAS:
Providing later hours during that week will encourage the use of the
library and its many services, and
WHEREAS:
The building will be open until 2 a.m. CT on May 6-10, and
WHEREAS:
Providing this service to students would aid the Student Government
Association of Western Kentucky University in its efforts to improve the
lives of students.
THEREFORE:
Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western
Kentucky University allocate $600.00 to WKU Libraries to keep the
Helm-Cravens Library open later during finals week.

Scholar Development Grant Award & Study Abroad Award Allocations
PURPOSE:
For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University
to allocate $1575.00 from the scholarships fund to assist students
participating in student research, conferences, and study abroad
experiences.
WHEREAS:
The Academic Affairs Committee’s Scholar Development Grant awards
qualifying students up to $250.00 for participation in research, and
WHEREAS:
The Academic Affairs Committee offers a Study Abroad Scholarship that
awards qualifying students up to $300.00 per term, with a maximum of
$600 for an academic year, and
WHEREAS:
The allocated funds will support students’ conference attendance fees,
equipment costs, travel expenses, test prep fees, or other expenses relevant
to their academic involvement, and
WHEREAS:
Justin Kirby will be reimbursed $175.00 for attending the American
Choral Directors Association Conference on February 29-March 3, 2012,
in Winston Salem, North Carolina, and
WHEREAS:
Krishnanunni Unnikannan will be reimbursed $150.00 for attending the
American Physical Society March Meeting on March 27-April 2, 2012, in
Boston, Massachusetts, and
WHEREAS:
Samuel S. Yerragudla will be reimbursed $200.00 for attending the
Congress on Healthcare Leadership on March 19-22, 2012 in Chicago,
Illinois, and
WHEREAS:
Shawna Felkins will be reimbursed $250.00 for attending the Sigma Tau
Delta International Convention on March 23-26, 2012 in Pittsburg,
Pennsylvania, and
WHEREAS:
Myles Oliverio will be reimbursed $250.00 for research expenses while
working on site preservation at Tooley Cemetery in Monroe County, and
WHEREAS:
Julie J. Scott will be reimbursed $200.00 for research expenses while
working on a stewardship project at Mammoth Cave National Park, and
WHEREAS:
Rosemarie O’Connor will be reimbursed $250.00 for attending the Sigma
Tau Delta Conference on March 1-4, 2012 in New Orleans, Louisianna,
and
WHEREAS:
Jennifer Michaels will be reimbursed $100.00 for attending the
Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development National
Conference on March 23-26, 2012 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
THEREFORE:
Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western
Kentucky University allocate the awarded funds of $1575.00 from the
scholarships fund to these qualifying Western Kentucky University
students.
