Resolution 5-12-S
Resolution to Support making Western Kentucky University more
inclusive for the transgender community.
PURPOSE:
For the Student Government Association of Western Kentucky University to
support making Western Kentucky University more inclusive and accepting for
the transgender and gender non conforming community.
WHEREAS: Encouraging the university and all university departments to revise their policies
to be more inclusive of transgender and gender non conforming individuals will
result in a more accepting and diverse university. Such a policy may include, but
is not limited to, non-discrimination clauses in department policies.
WHEREAS: Western Kentucky University is greatly lacking in adequate gender neutral
facilities. Greater effort should be made to provide adequate gender neutral
facilities in all university buildings. All university buildings should have gender
neutral restroom facilities.
WHEREAS: The Department of Housing and Residence Life should create gender neutral
housing options. The Department of Housing and Residence Life should grant
penalty free housing exemptions if the department is unable to provide adequate
gender neutral facilities.
WHEREAS: Western Kentucky University admissions applications and policies should be
updated to accommodate students who are transgender or gender non conforming.
THEREFORE:
Be it resolved that the Student Government Association of Western
Kentucky University supports making Western Kentucky University more
inclusive for the transgender community.
