CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at 1:30 p.m.
ACTION/DISCUSSION/INFORMATION ITEMS
1. Approval of 11/198/13 Meeting Minutes
The 11.05.13 minutes will be approved in the next meeting.
2. BSI/SSC Web Page
Kathy informed the Committee of the updates her office has made to the BSI/SSC web page. The
Committee provided Kathy with input. Maria will continue working on that web page to reflect the Committee’s input (membership table should be formatted with member’s position, member’s name, and member’s e-mail address and in alphabetical order by member’s last name).
3. SSC Coordinator Position (update)
Kathy updated the Committee on the Student Success Committee Coordinator Position. Kathy mentioned that she had received an email from Terri asking questions about this specific position. Updates to language in the job description were included in Terri’s email. Kathy reviewed those updates with the Committee. A long discussion took place and some

The Committee pointed out that this is an Academic Senate Committee and that HR should not be included in the oversight of this process. This position is funded with Basic Skills funds.
Kathy mentioned that the 30% release time needs to be approved by both the Vice President of
Academic Affairs and the President prior to the position being implemented. Kathy will present the recommendations for revisions to the coordinator position description and duties to Terri and report back to the group upon receiving feedback. The Committee agreed that Kathy should continue with the assignment of chairing the SSC for one more semester until the SSC coordinator position is authorized and a process for selection is determined. Kathy mentioned that this will be an agenda item for the February meeting.
4. Update on Strengthening Student Success Conference
This agenda item will be covered in the next meeting.

5. Third Annual Student Success Conference at Hartnell (Frank, Jason, Kelly)
A brief conversation occurred regarding the Third Annual Student Success Conference. Jason and Frank reported that they worked with Pam to decide workshop topics for the first day of the
Student Success conference.
