One frequent question faced by job applicants is to describe their experience in terms of a
personal accomplishment or achievement. To be prepared for this, and to ‘psych yourself up’ about
the many good things you have already done, take time to note the following:
1. Describe an accomplishment that you are proud of that did not occur at school. This could
be something you created or built, or an award/prize that you once received, or may have
been associated with your volunteer efforts.
2. Describe an accomplishment that you are proud of that has occurred at school during the
past year. This could be an assignment or test result, or extra-curricular (team) incident.
3. Describe a specific situation in which you helped to solve a problem.
4. Describe a situation where someone else complimented you on something that you did.
5. Describe a situation where you achieved a goal that you set for yourself.
6. Describe an accomplishment that you will always be proud of.
Be sure to revisit this sheet often as you add to your accomplishments!
