Time
Students need to learn to tell time
on both analogue and digital clocks.
The world is increasingly digital but
there are still analogue clocks in
use. Telling time helps develop
skills in proportional reasoning,
fractions, skip counting and
understanding elapsed time.

Mindsets are the assumptions and expectations we have for
ourselves and others. These attitudes guide our behavior and
influence our responses to daily events.

Discuss with your child:
 How many minutes does it take you to get to
school?
 How many hours is a hockey or basketball game?
 How much time has passed (eg: You started school
at 8:30 and you finished at 3)? How long were you
at school today? How much longer it will take?
Note: Try to help your child define periods of time throughout their day
(eg: “You have been on the computer for 90 minutes.” “Dinner will be
ready in 20 minutes.” Be aware of time management.
Discuss with your child:
 The last time that somebody tried to
influence a spending decision that they
made. Why were they trying to
influence your child’s decision? Were
they able to influence your child in any
way?
