Dragonflies February 29 – March 1st “The Big Red Barn” Lesson Review Domain Gross Motor/ Outdoor Play Fine Motor/ Pre-Writing Cognitive/ Phonological Awareness Social/ Emotional Self-Help th Home Connection Jumping in muddy puddles will be encouraged during this unit. We will simulate this through non messy avenues as well as messy ones. At home, encourage your child to get dirty and messy while outdoors. Allow them to explore to their hearts content. The children will be harvesting crops and herding animals during this unit. At home allow your child to help with lawn duties and taking care of their pets if they have any. Use your imagination to help them expand theirs. The children will be encouraged to imitate their teachers and friends during circle time as we make different animal sounds and movements. We encourage you and your child to do the same so practice being silly at home with them. The children will continue to express themselves with words throughout the day. We will encourage verbal communication through mimicking, individual and group discussions. While away from school, encourage your child to use their words, use this as a tool to open up a dialogue between yourselves. As a class, we will continue to work on drinking from our small cups without spilling or crushing our cups. In the event a spillage occurs, we will encourage the children to clean it up using paper towels.
