Maybe, if you aren't going to the game come out, have a good time. VI. Review of the Budget Crystal Guffey (Report passed around) VII. Report of the SGA Executive Report of the Legislative Vice President, Brock McMorran Extremely quick report for you all today! 1. Thank you for all of your feedback on the document that the Provost Committee has assembled. We will take your final comments and work them into the final report which will be presented in the coming week. 2. Admissions and the Office of Multicultural affairs will be hosting an event called “Destination-X” on Saturday, February 18 and Saturday, March 24. This event will run from 4:30 to about 6:00. SGA has been asked to be a part of this to talk to and recruit ~50 students of color and their families. If you are interested and available, please signup! Report of the President, Ryan Alleman I wanted to let you know that the UPRC voted today to approve a balanced budget for next year. The budget will be just under $216 million. The budget now moves on to the University President for his approval and then to the Board of Trustees next week. Still on UPRC, all of you are aware that Victoria is away from Xavier this semester, completing an internship in town. That leaves me as the only UPRC rep for the time being. In talking to Scott Chadwick and Beth Amyot, the three of us would like to move forward with finding an additional rep who would begin work this year and would carry on for two more years. When UPRC reps are being designated, it is usually a stagger term – the idea being you always want to have someone on the committee who has a year of experience, because there is a rather steep learning curve. My plan is to put out an application process to find the additional rep. If any of you are interested in that position, please consider filling out an application. An update on the Car Sharing Service – purchasing is reviewing the contract, and we are optimistic that it could be signed off on relatively soon. An update on the Convenience Store – I wanted to let you know that I reached out to FLiX last week, realizing that there is additional discussion and consideration for a convenience store in their current space. I have met with FLiX leaders and their advisor. My personal hope is that we can have a productive conversation about possibly transitioning their business model and their location. I am meeting with the entire group later this week so that we can further discuss about how SGA might support them. My personal view is that there is a high likelihood that a convenience store will be moving into that space and so I expressed to them that I would like to have a proactive conversation about what strategies they might develop moving forward. Quick reminder about the Father Graham dinners – a lot of you have followed up but not all of you. Please sign up on my door as soon as possible. Thank you to Colleen, Morgan, Jaclyn and Kevin for signing up to work Scholarship Day this weekend. It is much appreciated. One final reminder about the JCIR session on Saturday the 25th. Sadie Olson and I met with Joe Shadle last week to review the presentation, and will say that no matter your faith tradition I highly recommend tying to attend this session. Mission & Identity has essentially developed a leadership curriculum, based in the Ignatian tradition. It will be a session based on the leadership that St. Ignatius displayed in forming the Jesuit order and how we might apply that in our own lives; I even see this is as something that can be applied outside of Xavier. Lastly, I wanted to let all of you know about car access in Gallagher. I received word from Joe Christman that card access will be going live in the beginning of March. Students will have to swipe-in to the building after 11pm, and will only be able to access Gallagher from the greenspace side. Any additonal questions can be addressed to Joe. Report of the Administrative Vice President, Lydia Gerlach Logo Committee met last night and came up with a solid idea for the potential logo. This is a reminder that WorldQuest is this Friday from 6-9:30 in the Cintas Banquet room. Come hungry-- the food is great! VIII. Report of the SAC Chair, Morgan Zuziak Applications are now available! I am passing around some bright color notecards. One these notecards please write 2-3 people who you would like to recommend applying for SAC. I will be emailing these students letting them know someone recommended them and I will be encouraging them to apply. Please pass them up to me when they're done. Lately there have been a lot of groups that want to collaborate, which is great! I've received an e-mail that Ryan forwarded to me from Da Bologna, the president of the Graduate Student Association.he would like to collaborate with SAC and possibly the leadership interns in OSI. There would be around 4-6 graduate students on the panel and undergraduates would come and ask them questions. Also, Luke Beischel, the president of Active Minds and SGA's LTSI, would like to collaborate with SAC on LGBTQ and Stress Relief week. Katie Keller informed me of this so she can probably tell you a little more on that. Please let me know if you or your committee is interested in collaborating with these groups. I would encourage you to because these are both great opportunities for SAC to help and support other groups on campus! Also, these are no proposals due to me Sunday. The only promo that needs to be up before our next meeting is Sense and Sensibility by the 12th and Arvin Mitchell by the 14th. IX. Report of Advisor, Dustin Lewis There is no Senate Minute this week as I was out on Monday. Related to the SGA Budget that is being developed, I wanted to ask how many of you have had conversations (excluding members of FAC and the Budget Committee) about the SGA Budget - either offering your suggestions or giving some feedback. I want to highly recommend each of you take on this task of sharing your thoughts and ideas about SGA funding. You are not only a member of the association who will eventually pass the budget, but you are also a student that contributes each semester to the Student Activity Fee and you have the opportunity to share your direct opinions with SGA as the fee is getting appropriated. I am passing around my schedule for everyone who needs to sign up to meet with me. I am specifically looking for meetings with Jacquelyn, Katie Keller and Whitney to discuss their upcoming events. The Provost will be hosting Sexual Assault Violence Listening Sessions in coming weeks and is looking for student participants to give feedback to him directly about Xavier's efforts with handling and preventing sexual assaults as well as support for victims and adjudicating processes for assault allegations. I have already forwarded a list to Leah of my suggestions on SGA members who I thought might a lot of interest or contribution to this conversation. Please raise your hand if you're interested so I can make sure that you're included in my recommendations. As a note about the upcoming elections, Dr. Luther Smith will be continuing his role as the advisor for the Board of Elections. He will work with the BOE to address any issues related to election violations. The Spirit Celebration conversation has begun for next year and the university is looking at changing how Spirit Celebration will happen next fall. The proposed date is Monday, September 10th and some of the suggestions include blending the Mass of the Holy Spirit with an academic convocation and having some entertainment and activities immediately following the Mass. I will be sharing more details as they begin to firm up later this spring. Lastly, I want to make sure that SAC is giving credit to the Publicity Committee - they work incredibly hard and receive very little credit for their behind-the-scenes work on your events. Please join me in thanking them for their hard work this year. Did you know I sent an email to Brother Burns, asking if we might pay for shirts this year? X. Debate Ended Passed Chapter IX Suspension Sponsor: Colleen Reynolds I move to suspend chapter nine, section seven of the rules of order that states proposals must be turned into the SAC Chair three days prior to being proposed in order to propose for a Campus Traditions spring break event on February 29th. (Initial Questions) Right to suspend rules of order? Yes. If something like this happens its vote of committee chairs? The only time you vote is interpreting rules of order, technically, yes, you should suspend rules of order. (Debate and Discussion) Why was previous vote okay, this one is not? Blast from the Past Ski Trip: doubled attendance from last year. Some miss-haps, some students arrived without paying. Talking about how to structure differently. Overall, good feedback, heard really good things about it. Late Night Snack: 250 people showed, participation increase. Thanks Travis for the extra help. The Bergamot was a great hit. Thanks to all who helped out. XIV. Here and Now XV. Committee Reports Publicity, Annette Frac Sorry I had to leave, last Wednesday BBall game. Thanks to Dustin for the shout out today, we really appreciate it! Just a reminder for all those who proposed late to meet with us this Sunday at 7. Lastly we are looking to send out our email blast soon so if anyone has any suggestions for that let me know. Also, Morgan, I will send you a draft of SAC app promo ASAP. Late Night Programming, LeeAnn Scherbauer HI SAC! Nothing huge is happening with Late Night right now. We have just been discussing and working on the upcoming events of Late Night Movie: Drive, Comedian: Arvin Mitchell, and MAD. One update we have is that we will be doing another movie, most likely in March. We signed a contract with Swank at the beginning of the year that promised we would commit to ten movies. Without the one in March, we would only have nine. Therefore, we are looking into this further. That’s about it for now. Have a great rest of the week! Concerts, Matt Morefield Not Emailed Campus Traditions, Colleen Reynolds Hi SAC! Thanks for passing our spring break event today. On behalf of Campus Traditions, I apologize for not getting this in on time, and I thank you again for your support. Like I mentioned earlier, Ski Trip was an overall success seeing as we doubled the size of last year's attendance. I would like to encourage more of you to attend SKi Trip next year if possible. There were only five SGA members, including myself, who attended this event, and I would love to see more of you there. Lectures is currently in the works, and I'm hoping to have a more specific update for you all next week. Thank you again for all of your feedback during last week's meeting, we really appreciated it. Be on the lookout for our St. Patrick's Day event, Luck on the Levee, proposal soon - most likely next week. We're also currently beginning to brainstorm ideas for Boat Dance. That being said, if you have any ideas or suggestions, let us know! Thanks again, and I hope you all have a great week! Who is chairing boat dance? Katie Sellers.
