AVI 4M1 – Grade 12 Art – C. Melo NAME: ________________________________ CULMINATING TASK: A NEW DIRECTION .Invented Art Movement. E very art movement has developed out of influences for or against movements that have preceded them or developed concurrently. For example, Impressionists began as Realists, who became interested in depicting flânerie and the spontaneous effect of light on colour. Post-Impressionists, such as Cézanne, took some of these elements and re-focused their artistic techniques, thus affecting future generations. As a group, you will collectively decide on your movement’s name and brainstorm the philosophical, aesthetic, critical and formal principles of your movement. This will form the basis of your group’s *manifesto, which you will each individually write in the form of an essay/report. Ultimately, you will each create an original artwork in the style of your invented art movement.
