If labels are required, a sample label and intended location must be submitted for Architect review, prior to application. Stock All materials, hardware, electrical components, finishes, etc. used to fabricate any and all sign components shall be “new” (not previously used or operated in any other application) and from the most recent original manufacturer’s production run/supply and appropriately matched to the service conditions required of the site. Artwork Full-color, scaled artwork for all graphic components shall be furnished or specified by the Architect for reproduction. All enlarging and reducing is the responsibility of the Fabricator. Digital proof showing fabrication intent, materials, colors and layout to be reviewed and approved by Architect and Owner prior to fabrication. Notate any changes to artwork dimension or alignment as a result of field verification. Execution Problems such as messages being too long to fit into the required formats, difficult logo or logo-type components to reproduce accurately, etc., must be brought to the attention of the Architect, prior to the execution. It is required that the Sign Contractor not to resolve these kinds of discrepancies on their own. Examination: Examine substrates, areas, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of signage work. General: Install signs using installation methods indicated and according to manufacturer’s written instructions. -- Install signs level, plumb, and at locations and heights indicated, with sign surfaces free of distortion and other defects in appearance. -- Install signs so they do not protrude or obstruct according to accessibility standard. -- Before installation, verify that sign components are clean and free of materials or debris that would impair installation. All graphic designs created by the Architect and/or Owner for this project are to be used exclusively for this project. The Sign Contractor must receive express written permission from both the Architect and Owner for any use other than for the completion of this project including self-promotion and publication. It is required that all original artwork furnished by the Owner be returned upon completion of this project. (Deposit may be required.) supporting for signs and not hanging from supports of other items unless pre-approved by Owner. Acceptance Installer Qualifications: An entity that employs installers and supervisors who are trained and approved by manufacturer. All work shall be complete in every respect and satisfactory to all governing legislative authorities and building codes, the Owner and the Architect. SUBMITTALS Shop Drawings A set of detailed shop drawings based on field verification (plans, elevations and scale drawings) are to be submitted to the Architect for review prior to production. These drawings are to show/indicate all materials, finishes, construction details, lighting, and installation detailing of artwork and signage structure, including location of all materials seams (finished and unfinished). Additional drawing(s) may be requested by the Architect, at the contractor’s expense to further indicate items in question. Electrical Components: Electrical Requirements Sign Contractor shall provide at the earliest possible time the specific electrical requirements (if any) to the Owner. Informational Submittals: Provide Qualification Data For Installer and Manufacturer. Product and Warranty Specifications Sign Contractor shall secure all product specifications and warranty information and requirements for specific products recommended by Architect. Special Warranty: Manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of signs that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period. -- Failures include, but are not limited to, the following: a. Deterioration of finishes beyond normal weathering. b. Separation or delamination of sheet materials and components. Warranty Period: Five years from date of Substantial Completion. Mock-Ups of Specified Sign Types Sign Contractor shall provide Architect with a full size section mock-up of the Sign Type G1, Xavier “X” logo to demonstrate the materials, colors, details, lighting performance, seams, and connections to building prior to fabrication. Structure Final design and engineering of installation, internal structure, and mounting assembles by Sign Contractor: Sign Contractor shall submit an electronic set of comprehensive shop drawings incorporating an adequate mounting structure for each individual sign and components associated with the sign, given site conditions, to the Architect prior to fabrication. -- Include fabrication and installation details and attachments to other work, given site conditions. -- Show sign mounting heights and accessories. -- Show message list, type styles, graphic elements, and layout for each sign. The Sign Contractor shall at his expense submit calculations and drawings stamped by the appropriate Engineer registered in the State of Ohio. Installation and design for all structural members and supports are the responsibility of the Signage Contractor. All signage structural members and supports must be sole ADDITIONAL SPECIFICATIONS Maintenance Sign Contractor to provide Architect and Owner with complete finish/component care instructions as specified by manufacturer for on-going cosmetic sign cleaning and maintenance. Fabrication Provide manufacturer’s standard sign assemblies according to requirements indicated. -- Preassemble signs in the shop to greatest extent possible. Disassemble signs only as necessary for shipping and handling limitations. Clearly mark units for reassembly and installation, in locations concealed from view after final assembly. -- Conceal fasteners and anchors unless indicated to be exposed; locate exposed fasteners where they will be inconspicuous. -- Internally brace signs for stability and for securing fasteners. General Finish Requirements Protect mechanical finishes on exposed surfaces from damage by applying a strippable, temporary protective covering before shipping. Appearance of Finished Work: Noticeable variations in same piece are not acceptable. Variations in appearance of adjoining components are acceptable if they are within the range of approved samples and are assembled or installed to minimize contrast. Adjusting and Cleaning: Materials Unless otherwise indicated, use vandal resistant and concealed fasteners fabricated from metals that are non-corrosive to either the signage materials or the mounting surface. Code Compliancy Sign Contractor is to be responsible for acquiring all necessary permits and approvals from all local governing authorities for all of the signage. Owner is to be supplied with copies of all documentation. Remove and replace damaged or deformed signs and signs that do not comply with specified requirements. Replace signs with damaged or deteriorated finishes or components that cannot be successfully repaired by finish touch up or similar minor repair procedures. Remove temporary protective coverings and strippable films as signs are installed. On completion of installation, clean exposed surfaces of signs according to manufacturer’s written instructions, and touch up minor nicks and abrasions in finish. Maintain signs in a clean condition during construction and protect from damage until acceptance by Owner. PROJECT INFORMATION & NOTES 2 Access to Site Work Restrictions, General: Comply with restrictions on construction operations. Fabricator and Installer responsible for compliance with any and all site restrictions and regulations put forth by the Owner and/or local governing legislative. General: Contractor shall have limited use of Project site for construction operations as indicated on Drawings by the Contract limits and as indicated by requirements of this Section. Use of Site: Limit use of Project site to work in areas indicated. Do not disturb portions of Project site beyond areas in which the Work is indicated. Driveways, Walkways and Entrances: Keep driveways, loading areas, and entrances serving premises clear and available to Owner, Owner’s employees, and emergency vehicles at all times. Do not use these areas for parking or storage of materials. Schedule deliveries to minimize use of driveways and entrances by construction operations. Schedule deliveries to minimize space and time requirements for storage of materials and equipment on-site. Coordination with Occupants Work Restrictions On-Site Work Hours: Normal business working hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless otherwise indicated. Certain Owner programs and activities may occur during the off normal business working hours. Controlled Substances: Use of tobacco products and other controlled substances on Project site is not permitted. Employee Identification: Provide identification tags for Contractor personnel working on Project site. Require personnel to use identification tags at all times.
