Healthy Active Living – Grade 12 Personal Fitness
Rationale:
The focus of this course is on vigorous physical activity through advanced resistance training in Ascension’s state of the art fitness facility.
Through active participation and goal setting in a well-structured inclusive environment, students will explore and continue to improve
their movement skills and attitudes needed to maintain a healthy active lifestyle. Through the investigation of skeletal and muscular
anatomy, basic physiology, and nutrition and digestion, along with taking calculated risks and learning how to develop fitness programs
and setting reasonable short-term and long-term goals, students will develop a commitment to lifelong participation in enjoyable physical
activity. Students will also gain fundamental insight on designing custom programs and students will explore various careers in health
science
