Wilson 905-793-4861 "To love God and neighbor is not something abstract, but profoundly concrete: it means seeing in every person the face of the Lord to be served, to serve him concretely." Pope Francis "Serving God concretely." This is the mission of ShareLife, the annual charitable appeal of the Archdiocese of Toronto. In 1976, Archbishop Philip Pocock established ShareLife – the annual charitable fundraising appeal of the Archdiocese of Toronto – ensuring people have access to social services based on Catholic values and respect for the sanctity of life at all stages. www.dpcdsb.org/LBPEA VIRTUE FOR APRIL LOVE Love is not about us—it is about forgetting ourselves and looking out for the good of the other. The initial eight Catholic agencies has expanded to become an extensive network of more than 40 ShareLife agencies and grant recipients today. Collectively, those organizations served nearly 114,000 people within our geographic region last year, with countless more receiving care around the world On April 26th, Lester B. Pearson Catholic School will be donating all proceeds from Toonie Tuesday to help support ShareLife. Thank you to the students, parents, staff and community of Lester B. Pearson Catholic Elementary School next year and there are any learning needs that you think we need to consider in making up classes (this does not include requests for specific teachers), please put this in writing to the principal. Educational reasons will be factored into the decisions which will be made by teachers, resource staff and the school administration. Letters must be signed and submitted to the Principal PRIOR to May 2nd, 2016. DROP-OFF, PARKING AND KISS 'N RIDE Safety First—Reminders when dropping students off at school The safety of all children and staff must be considered as paramount at all times when dropping students off at school. The number of serious incidents related to traffic circulation at the front of the school and in the Kiss and Ride area during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal has risen. These incidents include vehicles entering the site in the wrong direction, parking and pulling out of no parking zones, parking in bus lanes, to name a few. It is imperative that all parents/guardians who drive their children to school adhere to the traffic circulation plan and comply with the traffic and parking signage on the site. It is equally imperative that all drivers follow the direction of school staff managing the traffic circulation on the school site. The Brampton Traffic Safety Council has observed our Kiss ’N Ride and have made recommendations. One of the recommendations includes adding pylons to limit access to driving through the front of the school as there has been congestion with cars dropping off/ picking up students. This will be in effect as of April 1st, 2016. Thank you for your consideration and co-operation with this important matter. Page 4 Stop Bullying and Dance On April 13th, we will be taking part in a board-wide Flash Mob Dance to commemorate the Day of Pink, the international day against bullying.
