If more families move into the area, which qualify for bussing, there may be a need to rescind the offer to make room for those students that qualify for busing. Footwear Students are expected to wear shoes in the school building and classrooms at all times. If the fire alarm is sounded, students will not be permitted to stop to put on shoes, clothing articles etc. Please ensure that your child has an extra pair of shoes at school, to keep their feet dry and warm during the wet and/or snowy weather. Student health and safety is a priority. Student Agendas Every student from Grade 1 – 8 is receiving a Student Agenda. Junior and Senior Kindergarten students have received a parent information booklet about school procedures. Parents are encouraged to read and be aware of school procedures. We would request that parents review the expectations outlined in the agenda with their children. These student agendas act as an organizer for students and a communication tool between school and home. All students are expected to use these agendas daily. Kindergarten Yard Redesigned We are very excited to announce that our Kindergarten students will be enjoying our newly renovated outdoor learning environment in their play area. A centrepiece of the renovation was a carving that was created especially for our school community. Now, we have an eagle that looks out over our Kindergarten play yard. Our students officially unveiled the carving. We would like to extend our thanks to the construction workers, Superintendent Mazzoratto and Mr. Dale Lucas who brought this design concept to our school playground. Safety First The safety of all children is our primary concern. As you are aware, we do have a buzzer entry system. We request that all visitors, including parents, to please come to the office through the front door, ring the buzzer and wait for a response. In doing so, we will be able to welcome you, ask you to sign in and wear a visitor tag while in the building. Not only will this process help to keep our students safe, it will allow our staff to get to know parents more quickly. We thank you for your cooperation in this very important protocol. In instances where your child is picked up early from school, we will verify that the person picking up the child is an authorized person for pick up. If the person is not recognizable, it may be necessary to request photo identification. Fire Drills, Lock Down, Shelter In Place We are required to conduct three fire drills in the fall and three in the spring.
