Many of our students are designated as walkers; therefore our main goal is to encourage our students to WALK to school and to cut down on the number of cars in our parking lot … cars pose the greatest safety risk to our students. Please support the efforts of the SJMV staff to ensure the safety of all of our children by following guidelines: If you need to drive to school park in the neighbourhood and use nearby crosswalks to walk the rest of the way. This will ease traffic on school property and help to ensure greater student safety during morning drop off. Please reinforce with your child to obey the crossing guards rules, and to walk across the intersection and not run. Please use the designated sidewalks entering into the playground. Teach your children to not run through parked and moving cars to come to you. If you drive your children to school, then please use the designated Kiss and Ride area on the south side parking lot. Pull up to the curb, allow your children to exit your vehicle (sidewalk side). If you want to walk your children to the yard please park in the parking lot. Please DO N OT PAR K in the Kiss & Ride lane. Trustee Darryl D’Souza Parish Priest Father Jan Kolodynski Visit our School Website: www.dpcdsb.org/VIANN ————————————- Vianney is now on Twitter! CRC are free of charge for volunteers. Forms will be available from the office. Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls and Boys soccer teams who competed in the Brampton West Family of Schools Tournament last week. Both teams played extremely well and never gave up. Their determination is to be commended. Front Door Entry The installation of this system allows us to enhance the safety and security of students and staff by locking the front doors. The front door will remain locked and all visitors are asked to use the buzzer to enter the school. Please be patient if we are unable to answer the door immediately. Our office staff could be dealing with another situation and can not respond for a brief period of time. Thank you for your cooperation. Reminder: All students who arrive after 9:00 a.m. or 1:00p.m. must obtain a Late Slip. COMMUNICATION Open communication between home and school is very important. Although we will be reporting to you formally during the year, please do not hesitate to contact us at any time if you have questions or concerns. A phone call at the onset of a concern usually resolves itself before it becomes a problem. On our part, if we have any concerns about your child, we will also contact you at the earliest opportunity. Please use your child’s agenda to maintain communication with the teacher. If you wish to meet with a teacher please phone the school for an appointment. Thank you! Vianney Email Up and Running! Thank you to the parents who have agreed to receive emails from the school. We Day TORONTO 2015 On October 1st, a number of our grade 8 and 7 students were given an opportunity of a lifetime to go to We Day which was held at the ACC. We Day is where students are encouraged to make a difference. We Day was filled with joy from live performances and speakers but it was also filled with sorrow that many people are facing throughout the world and their stories. I’m happy to report many intermediate students and Vianney’s Vision will be presenting many topics and charitable opportunities talked about at We Day. Our first challenge is “Vianney Scares Hunger”. We will be collecting canned food items for St. Louise Outreach throughout the month of October.
