End of the School Year Prayer
O God of all beginnings and endings, we praise and thank
you for the gifts of this school year.
It has been a time filled with grace and blessings, with challenges,
opportunities and joys.
Give us the rest and refreshment we need this summer.
Let our efforts of this past year bear fruit. Bring all of our plans to a joyful conclusion,
and bless us, according to your will, with the fulfillment of our summer hopes and
dreams.
Watch over us in the weeks ahead and guide us each day as you have done
this past year.
Let us return to school with a new spirit and new energy.

Principal’s Message
We are finally in the last week of school! This has been quite a school year at St. Ursula
Catholic School. It has been very busy with implementing curriculum, preparing for
Ministry of Education testing, going on excursions, practicing for sporting /special events,
preparing for graduation, and enjoying each other’s company. We are truly blessed to be
part of such a dynamic community.
I feel very blessed to be part of the St. Ursula family. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first
year at the school with the staff, students, parish and parents of the St. Ursula School
community. The staff is extremely dedicated to our students and our parents are
wonderful people who want the best for their children. Thank you for making St. Ursula a
wonderful place to be!
I would also like to give a special thank you to our Catholic School Council and the many
parent volunteers who put so much time and energy toward our school. Volunteers play a
very important role and are always welcome in our schools.
Congratulations to our grade eight students on the culmination of your elementary
education. I wish you well as you continue your education in secondary school.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all families a safe and peaceful summer.

Lost and Found
Please encourage your child(ren) to check through the
Lost and Found box if they have lost or misplaced
articles of clothing. You are more than welcome to
drop by the school if you are looking for particular
items. All unclaimed items will be donated to charity.
Allergies
Please remember that as we near the end of the year,
food brought into school must be peanut and nut free.
We ask for your continued cooperation in making
our school an “allergen aware” environment.
Medications
Please ensure that you drop by the school if epi-pens,
puffers or medication are presently being stored in the
school office. You will receive back the medication
CLASS LISTS FOR NEXT YEAR
Given the dynamics created by factors such as
declining or increasing enrolments in neighborhoods,
families moving in and out of the area over the
summer, the requirement for ‘caps’ in the primary
grades and potential staffing changes, class
assignments can take place right up to the starting day
of September 2nd, with on-going reorganization
throughout September.
PLEASE NOTE:
Students will only be informed of their tentative
class placement on the first day of school in
September.
Virtue of the Month - Fairness
Missing Texts and Library Materials
We are made by God to live together, to
share and to help each other. Christianity is about
living together in Community. Jesus spent a major part
of his time on earth showing us about the preferential
option for the poor and weak. He spent time showing
us how to follow God’s rules. Everyone deserves a fair
chance to succeed. A fair person: listens to all sides
before forming opinions, cheers on the success of one
another, refuses to twist rules to avoid consequences,
works for peaceful solutions to a problem, and can
balance their own rights and responsibilities with those
of others.
Each year students are assigned textbooks
for use in their studies. Our expectation is that students
will be responsible for these books throughout the year,
returning them in good condition. Each text can cost up
to $100, so it is imperative that each book is returned.
An expectation is that students will be responsible for the
replacement of lost or damaged books. Please help your
child search through closets for any missing textbooks
and library materials.
We pray for the gift of “Fairness”, to treat others as
we would like to be treated.
Thank you!
Year End Liturgy
Grades one to eight students celebrated our closing
liturgy on June 15th in the Gym. Father Francisco as
always was warm and welcoming. It was a lovely year
end mass where students and staff reflected on the
wonderful accomplishments that we all achieved
throughout our school year.
Sacramental Celebrations
Congratulations to our students who have received the
sacraments of First Holy Eucharist and Confirmation.
We thank the parish team at St. Anne Parish, staff at St.
Ursula.
COUNCIL’S CORNER
We congratulate our School Council
on their fine efforts in each of their endeavours this year.
Their commitment to enhancing student opportunities is
clearly evident, and we thank them for the time,
enthusiasm and energy they dedicate to the school on
behalf of the parent community.
School Council Elections
Each year elections for School Council are held in the
first thirty days of school. Nominations will be
available early in September. We strongly encourage
you to consider joining our School Council. More
information will be distributed in September.
Royal Tree Hugger News

The grade eight graduation ceremony will take place on
Monday June 22nd at 7:00 p.m. It will began with a
liturgy. A graduation dance will be held on Wednesday
June 24th in the morning with a lunch following at the
Mandarin in the p.m.
The Kindergarten graduation will take place on Monday
June 22nd in the day. More information to follow.
We hope to see you there.
Moving
Please remember to notify the school office if you are
planning to attend another school in September. We
will then provide you with the necessary transfer forms
to help with the transition.
The St. Ursula Royal Tree Huggers have had another
successful school year. We continue to monitor our
school energy use by encouraging lights to be dimmed in
favor of natural light, curtains to be closed at the end of
the day to keep the warm/cool air in, computer monitors
turned off when not in use and using GOOSE paper. Our
weekly campaigns were Trash less Tuesdays and Lights
out Fridays. Winners were announced each month and
pictures were posted on the ECO News bulletin board.
Our Big Campaign was our reusable material fashion
show and boomerang lunches. These two campaigns
highlighted the importance of bringing in reusable
containers and reducing the amount of trash we produce.
Our Outdoor class and green campaign got classes
involved in keeping the gardens clean and soiled and then
classes were instructed in the peace garden. Our two
waste audits showed us how much garbage we were
using. We won GOLD status again! This is an incredible
accomplishment, two years in a row. Thanks so much to
Mr. Iantorno for leading this initiative.
Report Cards
Report cards will be sent home on June 25th.
Reports for students not present at school will be
mailed. Parents/students are asked to comment on the
last page of their report card, and return by June 27th.
Library News
N. Mazze wishes to thank the entire St. Ursula school
community for the wonderful support of literacy shown
at this year's Scholastic Book Fair in May. Because of
your generosity, we were able to add over $2000 worth
of free literature and resources to our library
collection. Congratulations to Jacob S from Mrs.
Boyle’s class. His name was drawn and he won the
Scholastic Family Event Door Prize for our Spring
2014 Book Fair. He was able to choose $50 in free
books to share with her family and classmates. Enjoy
your new titles!
Just a reminder that as the school year draws to an end
to please return your library books and any other
school texts. We are still accepting any outstanding
books so please return if you come across any at
home! Once again, thank you for your amazing
support of the library this year. Have an enjoyable
summer and see you in our library in September.
TRANSPORTATION 2015/2016

Criminal Reference Checks/Declaration
Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board will be
implementing changes to their Criminal Reference
Check/Declaration Form procedures. In keeping with
the Safe Schools Act, all volunteers including those
going on one day school trips MUST have a Criminal
Reference Check. If you have the time or inclination
to be a volunteer, assist with school trips, drive for
sports events, assist with our fundraiser(s), be an active
member of school council-dealing with children in any
capacity, please contact the office for a criminal
reference check form, for the 2014-2015 school year.
The Criminal Reference check is free for
volunteers, and it will assure the safety of all students
at St. Ursula Catholic School. If you already have a
Criminal reference check on file at the school, please
complete the Criminal Offence Declaration form.
Please have your check or declaration completed so
you can continue to be an important and valued
member at our school. Forms are available in the
