Instrumental Lesson Attendance Procedure
1. PLAN AHEAD: Check the lesson schedule before your lesson, and decide what
subject you are in at that time.
2. After you unpack at school and before announcements, ask your teacher if you may
speak with the teacher whose class you are in during your lesson time.
3. Ask that teacher if you may attend your lesson at ____(lesson time). If the teacher
says “No”, please see if Mrs. Hopf has another lesson time available. . If you wait
until your lesson time to re-schedule it will be too late.
4. Band students must attend 6-7 lessons per marking period, and strings students should
attend 13-14 lessons per marking period.
OOPS: What to do if:
“I forgot my instrument or music at home!”:
1. If possible, call home and ask Mom or Dad to bring your instrument to school. (Playing an
instrument that is not yours is like borrowing someone else’s sneakers – they just don’t feel right.)
2. Come to lessons anyway - Mrs. Hopf probably has an instrument you may borrow.
“I left my instrument on the bus this morning!”
Tell Mrs. Hopf immediately so the bus garage can be notified.
“I was sick last week, so I didn’t know what to practice.”
Lesson homework is posted every lesson day outside the instrumental music room and on Mrs. Hopf’s
website. You may check there or ask your lesson partners. You will be responsible for your
assignment.
“I lost my book
Your parents have several options:
 They may go to DeVoe’s on Main Street and purchase new supplies.
 They may phone Zeswitz, Menchey’s, or DeVoe’s, pre-pay, and ask for the supplies to be
delivered to school.
 They may send in a note with payment to your strings teacher, who will order the supplies.
“My instrument broke!!!!”
Do not try to fix it! Mrs. Hopf will try to repair it. If it is not repairable in school, your rental company
will send in a loaner instrument and your teacher will return your broken instrument. If you own your
instrument, you need to take it to be repaired as soon as possible.
