Ranieri O 2 0 1 5 Principal’s message The first month of school has been a very positive and smooth one. At reorganization, we welcomed Miss Pittman to the Kindergarten class and Ms Weltman who will be teaching the Arts. In addition to those changes, Miss Gallo will now be teaching Science and Special Education. Fr. Vito continues to visit the school regularly. During his visits he will spend most of his time visiting with students who be receiving the Sacraments this year but he visits all of the classes as much as possible. We are excited about the Terry Fox Run/BBQ on Friday, October 2nd. What a great long-standing tradition here at the school. Thank you to Mrs. Travierso for organizing the run and thank you to the School Council for organizing the BBQ! On behalf of the staff of St. Patrick School, we hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! May you make the most of the opportunities of gathering with friends and family for times of prayer and fellowship; these times present us with the chance to strengthen the bonds that unite us as a caring Catholic community! God Bless, Mrs. N. Resendes . PAGE 2 Virtue of the Month– Empathy God has given us the ability to form connections with each other—to live together. Empathy helps us to connect and live together in safe, caring, inclusive communities. An empathic person believes that we all share one Spirit; that we are many parts of one body because we are all created in the image and likeness of God. We know that God has given us the virtue of empathy so that we can learn to appreciate, accept and care for one another. Regarding the Pedestrian Bridge Behind the School from the Developer: People using this bridge should take caution given there is still works to be completed before the subdivision is assumed by the City. Consequently, there maybe times where access maybe restricted on a temporary basis until the works are completed. They do plan to minimize any inconvenience to those using the bridge. 3 The School Council will be running a Halloween Dance-a-thon on October 30, 2015. Information will be sent home very soon regarding this very exciting Fundraiser! Students are invited to wear their costumes. Parents are asked to have their children leave all accessories at home, including masks. No toy weapons are to be brought to school. Volunteers: All volunteers MUST have a valid CRC even for one-time events, such as field trip supervision. We strongly recommend that parents/guardians who are interested in supporting school programs in this manner, please begin this process ASAP. For all volunteers, CRC are free of charge. Further information and forms are available in the main office. Parking Lot Safety PAGE 4 Important Parking Lot Information Morning Drop-Off Routine Parents who do not wish to park their car in a designated parking spot may drop off children using the DROP OFF ZONE established in the parking lot, at the bend near the school yard. This has been identified with painted lines on the pavement in the near future and a stop sign installed as well. Parents are asked to stop at the drop off zone and students should disembark from the right side of the vehicle. Other vehicles are asked not to pass cars waiting to drop off. Students exiting vehicles should not be going around the back of the vehicle to the trunk as this is unsafe. By following this system we can have two cars unload at a time. Once those vehicles have moved on then the next vehicles can pull up and unload. Buses will be asked to wait behind the line up and then pull up in front of the school to unload, as usual. We ask that cars no longer pull up against the curb in the area along the sidewalk/garden. End of the day Pick-Up Routine We would ask that if there are no more parking spaces available in the parking lot that parents wait in the church parking lot until they see that the 4 large school buses have arrived. Once all of the buses have arrived, parents are asked to pull up behind the buses in a line. No cars will be permitted to leave the parking lot until all buses have departed. Once the buses have left parents are asked to pull up to the curb and we will call your children out for you. Thank you for your cooperation with this pick up system. Ques ons or Concerns Regarding Transporta on? businfo.stopr.ca 905‐890‐6000 Or 1‐800‐668‐1140 Important: Please have your child's OEN (Ontario Educa on Number) ready when calling. STOPR will not be able to give out student informa on without it. You can find the OEN number on the report card or by contac ng the school. Terry Fox Run & BBQ On October 2nd all students at St. Patrick School will participate in the Terry Fox Walk. In doing so, they join thousands all over Canada and in many countries around the world, in an attempt to fulfill the dream of the young man who started the Marathon of Hope in 1980. His dream was to raise money for cancer research and, a quarter of a century later, his dream is kept alive by the efforts of participants such as our own students. Special thanks to the School Council and the parent volunteers who will be barbecuing hot dogs for all of the students! What a wonderful tradition!
