Therefore, we work to assist students in mobilizing and integrating these values into the ways they live and lead. • We believe that individual student learning is at the center of our work. Therefore, it is our role to consistently create and review programs, environments, and systems to ensure they maximize students’ ability to learn, grow, and develop. • We believe it is our role to align the fraternity/sorority experience with the core outcomes of the higher education experience. Therefore, we strive to align the fraternity/sorority experience with the Essential Learning Outcomes created by the American Association for Colleges and Universities (AACU). Philosophy on FSL Advising • We believe that fraternities and sororities are most successful when a shared paradigm for advising, mentoring, and coaching is used. Therefore, we strive to equip all those in advising roles with the education necessary to effectively advise while providing students room to be the drivers of their own fraternity/sorority experience. • We believe that effective advising and coaching requires a commitment to learning and development at the chapter, governing council, and individual student levels. Therefore, we place equal time and energy into chapter development and council development, all centered around the development of the individual student. • We believe that students have the privilege and opportunity to take ownership over their decisions. Therefore, we work with students in their journey to understand decisionmaking and the levels of expectation and accountability associated with that responsibility.
