Matt Monroe Memorial Scholarship
(Athletic – Football)
This scholarship was established in memory of Matt who lost his life on
September 28, 2005 as a result of an auto accident on his way back to
WKU. Matt was involved in Barren County Football since the age of 9 and
was so proud to be called a Barren County Trojan. His school spirit could be
seen on and off the football field. There were only 4 members of the 20042005 Trojan football team who had played for all four years at BCHS. Matt
was proud to say he was one of them. Matt loved life and everyone. He
could truly make anyone’s day better by giving one of his smiles or hugs.
His love for helping and putting others first can be continued through this
scholarship fund that was established.
This scholarship is open to any person that has been a member of the Barren
County High School football team for all four years of their high school
career. Applicant must be a member of the current graduating class.
This scholarship in the amount of $250 will be paid directly to the
educational institution upon verification of enrollment and is non-renewable
and non-transferable.

for your application to be considered :
1. Official Signed High School Transcript (no photocopies accepted)
2. Two Letters of Recommendation:
One from school (advisor, teacher or staff member)
One personal (church member, business acquaintance, etc. and
must be non-related)
3. Essay:
In you own words please describe why you should be awarded
the Matt Monroe Memorial Scholarship for football. Please
include what football means to you and how it has helped to
prepare you for the future.
4. 2 Wallet Size Head Shot Photos (for newspaper)
