Spring Prayer
Lord,
The resurrection of Your Son
has given us new life and renewed hope.
Help us to live as new people
in pursuit of the Christian ideal.
Grant us wisdom to know what we must do,
the will to want to do it,
the courage to undertake it,
the perseverance to continue to do it,
and the strength to complete it.
(New Saint Joseph People’s Prayer Book)

PRIMARY AND JUNIOR ASSESSMENTS
In May, the Ontario Education Quality
and Accountability Office (EQAO) will
conduct its annual province-wide testing
of knowledge and skills in reading, writing
and mathematics of grade 3 and 6 students
throughout the publicly funded school systems. The
EQAO tests will be administered during the period of
May 25th —June 8th. Parents are encouraged to
schedule appointments etc., outside of the
assessment period.
FIRST COMMUNION AND
CONFIRMATION
Our Grade 2 and Grade 8 students
will be receiving the sacraments
of First Communion on April 9
and Confirmation on May 5th at
St. Francis Xavier Parish. We
wish them Christ’s blessings as they continue
in their journey of faith!
CHESS NEWS
We would like to congratulate the members of our
Primary, Junior and Intermediate Chess Teams. All
the teams represented our school very well on
Thursday March 31st at the Mississauga Brampton
Central tournament. Many thanks to our coaches, Ms.
Lanzalone and Ms. Melaragno.
APPROPRIATE DRESS FOR WARM
WEATHER
Spring is in the air and with spring comes the warmer
temperatures! Parents and students are reminded of
school guidelines for appropriate attire as the warm
weather approaches. Dressing appropriately for
school promotes a positive learning environment.
Tank tops, halter tops, short shorts, basketball shirts,
spandex bicycle shorts and tops that expose the
midriff are not suitable for school attire. Shirts need
to be an appropriate length without violent or
inappropriate language.
We ask for your continued support for a dress code
which reflects the school as a place for serious work,
accompanied by standards of sensitivity and respect.
ARE YOU MOVING?
At this time, next year’s school population has been
projected at 270 students. As planning has begun
with respect to formulating classes and general
school organization for the 2016-2017 school
year, please inform the office as soon as possible
if you are planning to move between now and
September 2015. Also, if you have already moved
and not informed the office of your new address,
please do so immediately as our school records
must be accurate at all times.
SCHOOL ORGANIZATION – SEPTEMBER
2016
Planning and preparations have begun with respect
to formulating classes and general school
organization for the 2016-2017 school year. Where
possible, classes are organized and balanced on the
basis of a variety of factors. Some of these factors
include gender considerations, academics and
social/emotional factors.
Parent input is valued as we recognize that you know
your child best. We appreciate your input concerning
the special needs of your son or daughter. If you have
concerns about your child’s class placement for
September 2016, we ask that you put your concerns
in writing.
Please do not make specific requests for teachers as
staffing is always tentative and changes can and
often do take place between the time of tentative
class placement and September.
Address your letters to Mrs. Scardicchio by April 30th,
2016.
IMPORTANT IMMUNIZATION MESSAGE
FROM PEEL PUBLIC HEALTH
WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN!
Our Welcome to Kindergarten evening for new
students starting in the Full Day Learning
Program for September 2015, will be held on
Wednesday, May 19 from 6:00 - 7:00 pm in the atrium.
CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK
Catholic Education Week 2016 will be the week of
May 1st – 7th, 2016.
As always, Catholic Education Week begins on
Sunday to highlight the parish-home-school
partnership that remains the foundation of Catholic
education. We are pleased to announce the theme
for 2016 is “Opening Doors of Mercy”.
There are five sub-themes for each day of Catholic
Education Week.
Peel Public Health will be reviewing immunization
records of all students at our school until June 2016.
Peel Public Health must have proof that your child has
been fully vaccinated (immunized) according to the
Ontario immunization schedule. During the record
review, you will receive a letter from Peel Public
Health if your child's record is incomplete. It will tell
you what vaccinations your child needs to meet the
requirements for Ontario. Immunization records are
considered incomplete if:
- Peel Public Health has not received your child's
vaccination record or
- Your child's record does not show that he/she has
had all the required doses of vaccine or
- You do not have a valid exemption from
immunization for your child
Monday - Mercy that Welcomes (Jesus and the
Woman at the Well: John 4: 1-42)
- Mercy that Loves
Samaritan: Luke 10:25-37)
Tuesday
(The
Good
Wednesday - Mercy that Forgives (The Prodigal
Son: Luke 15:11-32)
Thursday - Mercy that Lives the Gospel
(Zacchaeus: Luke 19:1-10)
Friday - Mercy that Rejoices (Healing of the
Paralytic: Luke 5: 17-26)
There will be many activities going on in the
classrooms and school as a whole before, during and
after Education Week. All are welcome to attend.
If you receive a letter, please be sure your child
has received the required vaccination(s), then
update Peel Public Health immediately by fax
(905-565-0426 Attention: Immunization Records),
online at www.immunizepeel.ca or call Peel
Public Health at 905-799-7700.
Please understand that if Peel Health reports that
your child’s record is incomplete after the 3rd
notification letter, your child will not be able to
continue to attend school. Please ensure that your
child’s immunization record is complete and must be
sent to Peel Health not the school.
